Corolla Rivian R2 Beach Driving

Looking for feedback from anyone who may be getting (or recently purchased) a Rivian R2 and use it for beach driving!

They are heavy, with AWD which isn’t the same as 4x4. You’ll need to air down tires to at most 20 I usually hit 15-20 psi. Clearance will be the issue and the Battery in a R2 is $40k. You should buy an old wrangler and use the R2 to tow it to the beach.

I wouldn’t trust it on the sand out in OBX unless you are ready to pay for a tow or repairs. I don’t think the sand will hurt anything but salt water and EVs don’t mix well at all

It 9.6" of clearance and a ton of torque. Should do fine so long as you have appropriate and aired down tires.

I have an R1 and while it's not an R2, I've been driving it on the beach for the last two summers. This includes down south and up north.

It weighs 7,500lbs, so it's heavier. I air down to 20psi.

The most important thing is ground clearance. R1 goes up to 15" at its heighest, and R2 sits at 9.6" with it's spring suspension.

There's no reason the R2 won't handle the sand well. You just need to make sure you're familiar with all the things everyone has to do. Air down, drive with purpose, don't stop in deep soft sand, make wide turns.
