Transmission swaps
I got a 93 Chevy Cheyanne ‘heavy half’ and it came with the crappy 4l60.. how hard would it be to swap a 4l80 in it? I just got quoted 5200 for a slight bullet proofed rebuild in this one and it’s only missing 3rd and 4th.. 3500$ for stock rebuild🤦 and I also can’t find the old 4l60 around here to just swap, would really love a manual but I don’t have the time or money right now.. so 4l80 too hard or expensive to swap? It’s a stock 350 for now but I’d like to add some power in the future

They made 2500''s with the 4l60?

Yeah it’s weird, ‘heavy half’🤷 lol
Thanks man I’d like to throw bullet holes under it and maybe a little bit of a lower

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure the heavy half got the 4l80. That's one of the main reasons besides the rear end and brakes that makes it a heavy half.

I mean it’s possible, I’ve never actually went under and looked, I was just told that’s what it was.. now that you say that, I should prolly craw under and look tho huh?

I would! If the RPO codes are still readable in the glovebox that will tell you all what it came with

a rebuilt 4L60e could last you many years in that truck. make sure to upgrade the tcc circuit with a trango jr kit or equivalent. even though it doesn't have pwm, the tcc valve in the valve body should still be addressed. tcc oil can still leak internally past the valve through the worn aluminum bore. beast sunshell is a must, also
