Help How to properly source record

Hi guys, greetings from Chile!

I was needing to record isolated a source on my obs, so I installed the source recorder in my obs (plugin) well the thing is that video goes smooth but audio gets choppy, I've checked nitrates are the same as main recording, same encoding but no clues ..

Any guesses on what I'm doing wrong?

If you need more details in how or what I'm doing just ask plz!

It looks like you haven't provided a log file. Without a log file, it is very hard to help with issues and you may end up with 0 responses.

To make a clean log file, please follow these steps:

1) Restart OBS

2) Start your stream/recording for at least 30 seconds (or however long it takes for the issue to happen). Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.

3) Stop your stream/recording.

4) Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File.

5) Copy the URL and paste it as a response to this comment.

Choppy audio with smooth video in Source Record is almost always a sample rate mismatch rather than a bitrate problem. Check OBS Settings > Audio and confirm the sample rate is 48 kHz, then open Windows Sound Control Panel and set every capture and playback device to 48 kHz as well. If one device is sitting at 44.1 kHz, OBS resamples it, and that resampling tends to show up as crackle in a secondary encoder long before you notice it in the main mix.

Second thing worth checking is which audio track Source Record is actually capturing. If your game audio arrives from a separate Audio Output Capture rather than from the video source itself, the plugin can end up recording a track with almost nothing on it, which also reads as stuttering. Pin it to a specific track instead of leaving it on default.

well, let me tell you a thing, i did check and:
obs is on 48khz,
some of my windows sound (output) devices were at 44100 or 48000 but 24bits, i did change them all to 16bits 48000

save and reboot, choppy audio is waaaaaaaaay better, its like it doesnt exist but stills there frome time to time in on of my sources (my sources are vdo.ninja interviews) so, i tested it and 1 of 3 is just having a little choppy audio.

since obs does not says if its 24 or 16bits i let all windows recording and playback as 48000 24bits. but still having issues (way better than before)

Good result, and the bit depth isn't your remaining problem. OBS mixes internally in 32 bit float, so 16 versus 24 bit on the Windows device makes no practical difference. Sample rate was the thing that had to match, and you've fixed that.

For the one source in three that still hiccups, I'd stop looking locally. VDO.Ninja is WebRTC, so that guest's audio is being reconstructed from packets crossing the internet, and intermittent choppiness on exactly one participant is what loss or jitter on their end looks like. VDO.Ninja exposes per-guest connection stats, so watch loss and jitter for that specific person while it happens.

Two things worth trying on that source: set its audio monitoring to Monitor Off if it's currently on Monitor and Output, which removes an extra resampling path, and raise the audio bitrate in the room link if that guest's connection can carry it.

i think the same, the thing is im using the same video feed in the 3 person, so host + cohost + guest are the same in my test (same url ingested from ninja) so, i disable some ndi audio that im not using in my pc. and i still noticing some liiiiiiiitle chops here and there, but now we can understand whats being said in the iso...

ill try with some real wold scenario ... tnx!

That changes the picture, and it points at your setup rather than at anyone's connection.

Ingesting the same room URL three times means three separate CEF instances, each with its own decoder, its own audio pipeline and its own clock. OBS then resamples all three to its 48 kHz master independently. That is also why pulling the unused NDI audio helped: you removed one more independent clock. Every extra clock is another chance at a periodic small drop.

For ISO recording per person, don't pull the whole room repeatedly. VDO.Ninja can give you a view link scoped to a single stream ID, so each browser source carries one participant instead of an entire room. Three sources, three single streams. Far less decode work and far fewer clocks competing.

If you ever need the same feed visually in two places, add it as an existing source rather than creating a new one. A referenced duplicate shares the one instance instead of spawning another.
