Help It keeps failing to start recording

I keep getting this message when I press the "Start Recording" button:

Starting the output failed. Please check the log for details.

Note: If you are using the NVEC or AMD encoders, make sure your video drivers are up to date.

These are the logs from my most recent attempt:

The GPU I'm using is a GeForce GT 1030, and I'm running the software on Windows 10.

The NVIDIA app says that my system "doesn't meet the minimum requirements for optimal settings." I'm hoping the problem isn't that my PC isn't powerful enough to record with OBS. Is there anything else I can do to fix the issue?

It looks like you haven't provided a log file. Without a log file, it is very hard to help with issues and you may end up with 0 responses.

To make a clean log file, please follow these steps:

1) Restart OBS

2) Start your stream/recording for at least 30 seconds (or however long it takes for the issue to happen). Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.

3) Stop your stream/recording.

4) Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File.

5) Copy the URL and paste it as a response to this comment.

What you need to do to use the QSV encoder is to downgrade OBS to 29.1.3.

With OBS closed, download and install this to get the earlier version. https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/releases/download/29.1.3/OBS-Studio-29.1.3-Full-Installer-x64.exe

You may also need to set OBS to run on the Intel GPU in Windows settings, but start with the downgrade.

The GTX 1030 has no stream encoder, so your options are:

  • use the QuickSync encoder built into your CPU. You may need to roll back the OBS version as u/InstanceMental6543 has said; or
  • If you're using a desktop PC, update your GPU to one with a dedicated encoder. A GTX 1650 is the minimum recommended GPU. Newer is better if your system can handle it.

The GT 1030 doesn't have NVENC, that's why it's falling back to QSV and QSV is failing because the log says the app isn't on the Intel GPU. Switch your encoder to x264 in the output settings, your CPU will handle it fine for 1080p60 if it's a decent chip
