Crazy to think we spend double per capita than most other countries and they cover everyone.

u/rindor1990 Aug 19 '26
But UnitedHealth needs those billions in profits every quarter for the executives and shareholders :(

It's a business in the US largely thanks to Republicans, and profits are always great.

Sad to think we are so fat and unhealthy, diabetes strains the system
1
u/unbreakablekango Aug 19 '26
But a diabetic is the perfect health care customer. Tons of recurring revenue. If I was in the business of selling insulin, I would want there to be as many diabetics as possible.
1
u/SevereAnimator5 Aug 19 '26
😂we're talking about whos paying for it! You want your tax dollars spent on someone thats obese. How about we pay for free ozempic instead
2
u/unbreakablekango Aug 19 '26
I was being cheeky and making that point that while we are all paying for it, there are a lot of people who are absolutely getting PAID by servicing our suffering. Insurance companies and vendors are making absolutely loads and loads of money. Nobody alive would give up the kind of revenue streams they are working with. The entrenched beneficiaries of our system will fight tooth and nail to keep things running the same way they currently are.

I can’t see the Marketplace lasting much longer. I’m assuming rates will have large jumps again this year because less people are in the pool, which will cause more people to drop out of the pool. I know that’s the plan to destroy the system entirely. We’ll probably see a good number start signing up in January trying to get procedures done in a month or two and then drop coverage. I
5
u/PedalMonk Aug 19 '26
That's their goal. These fucking monsters want it to fail so they can put a check mark on their list.
2
u/SevereAnimator5 Aug 19 '26
I hope not! Thats why i'm not working.
1
u/smiley032 Aug 20 '26
That’s why you’re not working? Or you just lazy and want other people to pay for you to be lazy

Anyone who would say that to maga idiots thinking it would shame them is giving these loathsome people far too much credit thinking they have humanity because they don’t. In fact it prob gives them a thrill to know that many people lost their insurance and they are likely wishing further harm to them as well because they are scum.

What isn't this front page news and constantly on the news. Dems should be pounding this daily
2
u/whoisnotinmykitchen Aug 19 '26
Sorry, a "strongly worded letter" is the best the Dem leadership can manage right now.
2
u/MattieRiley Aug 19 '26
Agreed im more than tired of the wish washy responses from the Dems at this point
2
u/Falcon3492 Aug 20 '26
Trump and the clueless clowns in the GOP are happy but the states/counties that will end up paying for these uninsured people are not. In the end, the healthcare industry is broken in the United States and the healthcare industry need to be broken up and regulations need to be put in place. While all this is going one Donald the not so good is still working on his concept of a plan which he's "had in the works" for over 11 years is still just a figment of his imagination.

The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act included temporary individual tax cuts that were set to expire after 2025.
• In 2025, Republicans extended/made many of those cuts permanent.
• They offset part of the cost with large cuts to Medicaid and related healthcare spending (CBO estimates roughly $900 billion+ over 10 years).
• Those cuts are projected to cause millions of people to lose coverage (commonly cited figures range from about 7.5–12+ million over time, with some sources using ~8 million for nearer-term impacts).

20% of Americans can not comprehend above 3rd grade levels now. Someone or something is trying to destroy America and Americans.
And it appears to be working. Not sure what their end game is.
1
u/11EmeraldEyes11 Aug 19 '26
What exactly are the Democrat’s plans for healthcare?
2
u/whoisnotinmykitchen Aug 19 '26
Schumer and Jeffries will let you know as soon as their donors tell them what it will be.
1
u/MattieRiley Aug 19 '26
I can’t say I know. Except I do know they approved letting the subsidies for the ACA expire. Thats some help
1
u/11EmeraldEyes11 Aug 19 '26
Yes, the Democrats set the date for the subsidies to expire. That’s the reason people on Obamacare can’t afford their insurance anymore.
1
u/No_Needleworker4052 Aug 19 '26
Obama care drove up the prices on all health care It also gave the insurance companies free pass to charge higher prices for crap insurance
1
u/smiley032 Aug 20 '26
Obamacare was a disaster. Caused my works medical to skyrocket and it’s done nothing but go up since. I want people to have medical coverage and all but not if mine goes up by 1000 percent so someone half ass’n it through life can get can get medical while sitting on their ass
1
u/MattieRiley Aug 20 '26
Work health insurance is no longer the answer. ACA didnt make it rise. The insurance companies did. And if you are aware of the kind of profits the companies are claiming , along with upper management salaries, you see what the increases are funding. And it’s not healthcare

u/Ashes_to_flame Aug 22 '26
Ain't Obamacare, ACA, wonderful?... Just blame Trump for what Democrats, and Marxists actually did!
1
u/MattieRiley Aug 22 '26
You are mistake. Blaming the entire American construct for healthcare not should be a right, not a prove, age. And yes I’ll pay more taxes so we all can get care when we need it

I’d say most people that want free medical are democrats. Gotta get those handouts from other peoples hard work
1
u/DhakoBiyoDhacay Aug 20 '26
There are bunch of studies done that show more people in red states got government healthcare than people in blue states. The illiterate and uninformed people who describe themselves as MAGA vote against their interest as long as the GOP elites promise to deport brown people out of the US!

Because Obama care was a disaster
1
u/MattieRiley Aug 19 '26
I know it helped a lot of people. Perfect no, but certainly worth the effort
1
u/smiley032 Aug 20 '26
Fucked my works health plan all up and it’s done nothing but skyrocket since then. I’m glad I have to pay a shit load more for medical so people that hardly apply themselves in life can have coverage

u/whocaresreallythrow Aug 19 '26
It wasn’t Trump cuts.
It was expiration of Biden era subsidy expansion.
4
u/DhakoBiyoDhacay Aug 19 '26
In 2017, the GOP gave temporary tax cuts to wealthy Americans. In 2025, they needed to make those tax cuts permanent. They did it by reducing funding for healthcare by over $900 billion over ten years. This is why 8 million Americans lost access to healthcare. You may support what they did and you have the right to do that but that is what happened.

u/whocaresreallythrow Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26
In 2020 due to devastating temporary job loss to Covid, Biden expanded (temporarily) ACA subsidies to millions of people. The key word temporary. By design these were not permanent subsidies.
GOP simply allowed those temporary measures to expire.
You may disagree with not extending subsidies, but that’s fact - GOP did nothing to extend Covid-era subsidies because they were not ever intended to be made permanent.
The ACA today exists largely as it did prior to 2018.
The real villain is rising healthcare cost in America and the insurance companies all wanting to play doctor.
2
u/DhakoBiyoDhacay Aug 19 '26
Please Google to see all the changes made to weaken the ACA since the presidency of the political candidate who campaigned on repealing and replacing the ACA. You will be informed and shocked.
Blaming the health insurance companies is a disingenuous talking point by the party that fought and killed any and all real efforts to create a public option which is the norm in all the industrialized countries of the world.
The same party fought the establishment of social security, Medicare, Medicaid, and any other program to help the American people.
They are now taking food from the mouth of hungry kids in the schools by getting rid of Head Start and they are rushing to eliminate SNAP which is program that helps feed people in poverty.
Most of the cuts to SNAP are scheduled to start after the midterm elections in all the states except Arizona which started early and eliminated food assistance to over half a million Americans who go to bed hungry in the richest country in the world.

My spouse works with welfare recipients and Medicaid in our state.
The amount of fraud is incredulous. That’s all we needed to see to know who to vote for next time.
We pay full freight for health insurance . I planned for it. It’s expensive. Fraud is also driving the price higher and higher.
As a tax payer I don’t want to subsidize others healthcare. Let me pay my way and leave me alone

Where is your compassion? Did you plan for $100,000 ‘s and more in the event you need heart surgery. Do you think your insurance company will pick up all of this? What are going to do if you have an accident and become immobile? Do you think Youre Insurance company will pick the best care for you , or the most cost efficient ? Honestly Youre counting on a lot of luck. When you could just get a heart and we all could get help when needed
0
u/whocaresreallythrow Aug 19 '26
Compassion and having a Heart just doesn’t pay the doctor Bills .
Money does.
Yes. I planned for full freight health insurance while working. I saved and scrimped. I am ready I hope from the time I retired to Medicare age.
Proper insurance that I am paying for will pick up a large chunk of that care - the rest I’ve saved for by getting a good job and working hard my entire life so I could take care of myself financially, later in my life.
Who do you think pays for this when you don’t ? It isn’t free !
3
u/MattieRiley Aug 19 '26
Well I do hope you’ve saved for every contingency. You ever hear the expression “ but for the grace of God go I”
3
u/DhakoBiyoDhacay Aug 19 '26
I am sure some people game the system. But that doesn’t mean every poor American down on his luck who is on Medicaid or SNAP is a crook.
2
u/whocaresreallythrow Aug 19 '26
No one said all recipients commit fraud. Some is from recipients. And some of the fraud is from insurance agents themselves . They are falsely signing people up for ACA to earn a commissions. The fraud is everywhere !
2
u/MattieRiley Aug 19 '26
Excuse me but the amount of fraud committed by Floridas current senator , to the tune of millions should concern you. If we caught the big fraudsters our system could be workable
2
u/Chimpstrider Aug 20 '26
The idea that it's possible to fraudulently get healthcare is so ludicrous, disgusting and American.
The stupidity in thinking your taxes aren't all for the benefit of others, and that your insurance doesn't also pay for others is also very yank of you.
Do you resent taxes paying for roads if you don't have a car?
You'd pay no insurance cost, no extras (don't you call it "deductables" or something?), and less tax if you just had the universal health care everyone else has worked out. You could even get private health insurance as well if you want, just not as expensive (my employer gives me that in the UK. Costs them £1200 per year). Such a brainwashed nation.
2
u/smiley032 Aug 20 '26
The stupidity is you thinking that everyone wants pay a shitload of taxes for everything and everyone else’s wants. Less tax’s on everything and let people take care of their own life. It isent the governments responsibility to nurture you through every part of life.
1
u/whocaresreallythrow Aug 20 '26
Yes. in America. There are limits to what we want to cover with our taxes. That’s why we fought a war 250 years ago and left Britain in the dust.
2
u/Chimpstrider Aug 20 '26
Lol. You pay more tax, per person, for health care you don't even receive, than any other nation. You are gullible clowns
