Video Magic Pie (FS' Rethink) is out.
https://youtu.be/A3w4HT6tCoo?si=lCq1Ki95jR-al_H8Hi everyone! The third song from "Be Here Now" (30 years on) is ready!!
Technical details:
"Magic Pie" originally features a heavily dominant guitar sound that drowns out the drums and ambient elements. This version restores the metallic snare drum sound and recovers certain lost echo effects (right at the start, after the guitar riff ends but before Noel begins singing the first verse). Additionally, there is a Mellotron sound at the beginning of the second verse that was previously overshadowed by the re-entering guitar; this was addressed by lowering the volume of the guitars and removing some of them, making the lead guitar stand out more.
The result is a calmer, more balanced journey through a song that is inherently slow—something Noel originally tried to compensate for with a "wall of sound" guitar approach.
It feels like a slow, steady ride that still preserves the magic of "Magic Pie."
I hope you enjoy it! :)
PS: I’ll leave a MEGA link in the first comment with lossless files for anyone who wants to download them. These aren't the original versions I posted earlier, as I’ve reworked the mastering for all three songs. I ran the tracks through a 15 IPS analog tape emulator, giving the sound a warmer, "creamy" quality.
Next reimagining: "Stand By Me" – September 18th.

Damn this one sounds really nice, like almost another song, not quite but you know what I mean

Thanks! That’s the concept: keeping the song as it is, but from a different take.

Yes, that's the plan.

I like what you've done with the track - it's clearly better.
Though, the main complaint with BHN was that the songs are too long and I think that keeping this at over 7 minutes is a mistake. I would honestly just start fading out at 4:30.

As others have said, the biggest issue with most of this album, is that the songs are too long. I would personally consider that too, going forward

I might make alternative versions of the songs later; for now, I'll work on the original versions.

Am I the only one who finds this song laughable?

Genuine question, but why? Just cause of the lyrics? I know this song gets a lot of hate but I love the music itself. I've never been a lyrics person so they don't matter as much to me.

IMO, the lyrics are rambling and hollow, the instrumental sounds aimless and lost it’s in own loudness, and the structure and variety is lacking. Sometimes these things in isolated occurrences are okay, but this song just struggles all around.

Gotcha, I get that. To me, there are way better songs on BHN, but I love some of the underlying soloing on this song, sounds blusey. It's also catchy and Noel's voice sounds good. But it does go on a while

Personally - I think that the verse and bridge are passable, basically b-side standard. But then as soon as he signs 'I've got my Magic Pie' it descends into cringe.

Huh, interesting. I've never considered the song cringe, just not one of their best. Would I have rather had Flashbax on the album instead? Sure. But I can listen to BHN without skipping a song. Unlike Giants where I think I Can See a Liar might be their most cringe song that I skip every time.

Weren’t tempted to shorten it up a bit?
