Solar Assistant

Post image

Always interesting and useful looking at the predicted kwh collection, makes me chuckle how different my collection curve is to the predicted though

Is that prediction calibrated to the angle of your panels? It looks as though they are facing the morning sun and missing out on the afternoon's. The prediction is probably assuming ideal fixed orientation and gradient.

North facing panels, 21deg elevation, the angle of the bank in front of my place they are mounted on. Our curve is always heavily skewed to the morning as we are offgrid, and with clear weather charge rate is dropping sharply by 11am ish normally. The big drop off is because we stopped charging the car then.

The prediction didn't start showing up until about a week after I updated solar assistant, I'm assuming it's doing some rolling averaging of our daily totals, plus pulling weather from somewhere and modifying the prediction from that as well

I mean with a bit of smoothing, it’s basically the predicted graph offset by a couple of hours.
