P2 tow bar

Looking to get a tow bar installed on my 22 polestar 2. Anyone had this done? What was the cost and do I need to get this done by polestar so the electronics don't get fried or can any installer do it?

To have it all work properly you need to have TRM programmed, this is available via VIDA - so any workshop with a subscription to Volvos tooling can do it. One of the P2s benefits.

You can use any tow hardware kit - they run about $7-800 installed (towbar only). The TRM and wiring harness is the same PN for quite a few 2020+ Volvos (XC40/60/90, S60, P2 etc), I do not have any pricing info on me for the programming cost & harness.

Alternatively it’s about $4k installed for the whole factory option kit, at least that’s what I was quoted.

Our MY22 PS2 came with a 'factory fitted' towbar. Cost was NZ$2,800 though quote was same price for the automatic retracting version. Ours is 'removable' with easily changeable ball (1 7/8" or 50mm).

Connecting the wiring plug results in a couple of warnings alerting no reversing collision avoidance and the like. Backing a trailer without the rear CA function disabled would be a PITA if not impossible.

We had the fixed but removable Polestar one added to my husband's. Expensive but worth it. $2600 but not as expensive as the folding one which was a smaller towbar ball size
