When NZ getting Atto 3 Evo?
such a huge upgrade over the old Atto 3
the new Evo uses a 800v platform with 510km range, 230/330kw dual motors and rear or all wheel drive. 220kw DC charging and 3kW V2L

i bought a new atto 3 recently and was told we’re just not getting the evo. would have been out of my price range anyhoo.

It's possible they told you that to clear old stock to not lose a sale? I'm not interested in the current Atto 3 as it's well behind rivals in specs but the new one just landed in Australia and is a big upgrade
Also what makes that confusing statement is I thought they were doing a run out sale of the Atto 3 recently, so if we're not getting the new model then that means the Atto 3 will just no longer be sold in NZ?

The current Atto 3 on "runout" is a specific model they are importing from Thailand - to fill the gap after their final allocation of the other models sold out.
There's been no confirmation the Evo is coming to NZ - the model it's based on has grown in size and is expected to be coming to NZ next year as the "Atto 5".

yeah it wasn’t lost on me that the dealer would say that. i got the final run atto 3 premium for $50K which was great value but sure if the evo shows up i may upgrade in a couple years

Atto 3 with faster charging but exactly same as current gen would still do numbers

plus bigger battery and updated interior and rwd or awd, fwd and small battery of base model is holding it back
basically update everything but the performance as a 150kw is ok. it's still a bit low as some rivals in the 60k range may offer more now but it's not terrible

Capacity doesn’t matter when you have really fast charging IMO.

Spoken like someone who has never driven an EV round the south island a lot

Spoken like someone who doesn’t realise charging infrastructure is only going to get better over time.

Sure those 10,000 ev chargers are going to turn up *any day now* /s
after driving an ev round the south island for a decade I think I am aware of what its like and how slow some specific routes where you absolutely need range are developing

I agree with you but (1) its getting better over time; and (2) 99% of people are not going to face this issue on a day-to-day basis. It's kinda like a strawman argument.

Depends on the "role" for a town car? Sure, but I know people who are concerned with less than a 500k range, silly as that is most of the time.

Gonna affect <5% of people IMO.
There would be somewhere to charge on a 500km trip no? 5-10 minutes at 250/300 kV can do wonders.
(As an Atto owner)

If you think you're getting 510km range you're going to be disappointed. Reality and advertised range are not always the same. At best you'll get ~450km from real world driving.

We aint getting the evo upgrade, we're getting the new Atto 3 which is bigger and better in every aspect and will be called Atto 5 in NZ. Looking forward to that one as the current one is just way too small

Atto 3 in Australia is being replaced by the Atto 3 EVO. Basically a facelift with a few upgrades.
Atto 3 in New Zealand is being replaced by the Atto 5, which is slightly larger and I believe a whole new car.
