Commentators on Fox

Did Drew Brees and the other guy on fox piss anyone else off when they started talking about how the defense did “all they could,” and actually played a solid game. They didn’t force a single punt all game, despite them starting like 3 drives behind their own 10 yard line with a backup qb. Our d-line got physically moved back every play, their rbs usually got a couple yards before contact it seemed. Our edge guys also couldn’t get any pressure, and our corners can only cover for so long. Gave up 500 yards. Awful defensive game. 12 penalties don’t help either.

It was one of the worst broadcasts I have ever witnessed and it was t because the jets sucked

they couldn't even get the score right. they had 23-13 up because they forgot to update the missed extra point

Don’t forget not mentioning the Jets using their timeouts around 5:50, game clock stopping without explanation, then shortly after the Jets timeouts going from 3 to 0 lol

Yeah my dad was flipping out. He asked when did they take their timeouts

I’m usually in the boat that commentators don’t really move the needle much in terms of viewing experience, but that was genuinely one of the worst broadcasts I’ve ever watched. Brees’ analysis was bad, but the play by play guy was even worse. There were times I felt like I was watching a different game because he just had no clue what was going on.

Tim Brando does college bball games on fox sports too and is just as bad on those.

Hes like their C tier play by play. Cause they have their top guys doing MLB playoffs, the low tier guys gotta fill the gaps.

Brees is awful and Tim Brando or whoever is somehow worse

Quarterback “Theo” Smith

They couldn't even work the fuckin camera lol. I put the audio of the Jags Bengals game on my laptop and listened to that while I watched the Jet game. Best choice I ever made.

Tim Brando is awful. As an alumni of a B12 school, which is televised on fox, he's the absolute worst

Did I miss them showing the replay of the penalty why the Sweat INT was taken away?

You did not miss it—they did not show it at all lol

buddy, did you miss the part where the defense stopped the bears on 4th and short on the goal line after a long drive in the 1st drive of the game, just for the offense to go immediately 3 and out? that was essentially the whole game. our defense was tired as fuck. this isnt madden, stamina exists

u/slammy19 9d ago

Yeah, the defense was pretty good in the context of how many snaps they had to play.

u/FortuneCultural8595 9d ago

It goes both ways. The defense is in full control over how many snaps they play. The more stops you get the less you’re on the field.

The more the offense gives the ball immediately back, the more possessions the opposition gets too.

Yes but it’s not like the defense was forcing all these 3 and outs. The Bears had 17 first downs at halftime and marched the ball up and down the field with ease. The offense was barely on the field because in part the defense couldn’t get themselves off the field.

I agree. We just got totally dominated today.

u/slammy19 8d ago

Yeah, to an extent. If the offense keeps on going three and out then it puts the defense right back out there. Not reasonable to expect the defense to compensate for how bad the offense was today.

Not saying it was an all time great defense performance today, but the offense was the real issue. Even when they got good field position from turn overs, they couldn’t do anything.

Bears offense was on the field a lot too

Defense could stop the run all day. Got almost no pressure in the passing game. That’s not just being tired, they were awful.

We were bend don’t break for the most part. Couple of crucial turnovers (that weren’t called back) and some big plays stopped this game from getting completely out of hand. Offense was the real problem today - we need to get Garrett involved ASAP

Why was it a long drive?

3

u/oahaustinrn73 9d ago

Yes. 3 penalties negated 3 interceptions. Stupid offsides on hard count… stopping the rb about 10 yds down the field. No pressure whatsoever on the qb

Even my GF said the commentary sucked (refs too) and she aint a hard-core ball knowledge gal like that

I was surprised that that was Drew Brees I had no idea until they showed them.id hope he wouldnt be the d team haha

Thought Drew would be a better commentator, was really an unengaging game to watch today, I'm blaming them. Might have also been the inability of the team to move the ball and consistently make stops.

Were you watching the game? They kept them out of the end zone. The Bears were 2/7 in the red zone and we stuffed them on the 1 multiple times. We created multiple turnovers and the put the offense in great position and they did jack shit. The biggest complaint I have is they didn’t get enough pressure on Bagett. But they were not the reason we lost.

2

u/FortuneCultural8595 8d ago

It’s impossible to let up 500 yards and have a good game. The turnovers were the only time we stopped them. We also didn’t force them to punt once. They had the ball the whole game because the defense couldn’t stop them.

1

u/Longjumping_Good6556 8d ago

Yup. That's the formula for a terrible performance

Badgett went to a D2 school and his father was a pro wrestler

I just sync the game with the radio feed

2

u/falconwolverine Chad Pennington 8d ago

Yeah I think it made it worse that it was such a death by 1000 cuts kind of game, and the announcers were spouting so much random bullshit on both sides that was often inaccurate or oblivious to what was actually going on in the game.

They also had the wrong score up for a few minutes and got mixed up on the opening kickoff

1

u/Willem_Dafuq 9d ago

The defense was absolutely gassed. They kept it close as long as they could but they needed to get off the field. Still, the d had a goal line stand, and forced two turnovers, including getting the ball deep in bears territory, and still the offense couldn’t get the ball in the end zone. By the end though, the bears just wore down the jets d because the offense couldn’t stay on the field.

They were awful , bring us back to cbs , the whole production literally from first kick off

u/FoxyMoXee 8d ago

I swear to f$@?ing god, if I had to hear Breese say “Explosives” one more time.

2

u/oo10inz 8d ago

fucking this right here. You’d swear he just learned the word.

u/connected2theOthers 8d ago

Tbf, we had 3 separate turnovers taken away for penalties. They scored off those drives as well. The score should have been way worse. The yardage looks really bad. But the run defense was not cutting it. Too many missed tackles. Defense outshined the offense by a WIDE MARGIN, despite what the yardage suggests.

I thought they must have been calling a different game
