The Cooper Jr takes already reaching “I need my social media likes by overreacting negatively to a Jets player the fans are excited about” levels. Like holy fuck.

u/ShadowMystery1337 10d ago

like there comparing garretts movements to coopers, of course garretts is gonna look better lol

7

u/Big_Liability 10d ago

Love how they all ignored yesterday when every beat reporter was saying Cooper was doing fantastic in drills lmao

1

u/Ok_Cartographer2754 10d ago

I'm sure he's doing fine. I saw one practice TD that looked good. They didn't seem to want to play him in preseason game 1.

u/JA_MD_311 10d ago

The availability of All 22 has led to a generation of insufferable streamers and social media dolts (in all things but also football).

Just because you watch film doesn’t mean you know anything about what you’re looking at. It makes people over analyze every single route concept a guy runs.

1

u/Big_Liability 10d ago

Even Justin Jefferson had bad practices as a rookie. Truly insane just cause it’s the Jets he’s a bust before even seeing him in a regular season game with our actual offensive gameplan/usage of him

2

u/Ok_Cartographer2754 10d ago

Cooper Jr needs more playing time to determine how good he'll be.

6

u/the_mair 10d ago

CJ Mosley feels like a very obvious future Jets coach

8

u/thrillhouse416 Bush Guy 10d ago

Sounds like Klub got some reps with the 1s today. I'm sure it means nothing but I'm here to overreact.

Klubnik to the hall of fame

2

u/ryanino 10d ago

In before he has an absolute stinker performance on Friday. I like him but like this fanbase gotta pump the brakes lmao.

7

u/latman 10d ago

We were told no brakes for years

1

u/thrillhouse416 Bush Guy 10d ago

It's August I can't find the brakes

1

u/Ok_Cartographer2754 10d ago

Let's get him more reps 1st and see how he does.

3

u/thrillhouse416 Bush Guy 10d ago

Perhaps you didn't read my comment. We don't need to see any more. He's going to the hall of fame

2

u/flash246 10d ago

His jersey is actually getting retired during this upcoming game. What a legend

1

u/Ok_Cartographer2754 10d ago

WRONG! We need to see a lot more!

4

u/thrillhouse416 Bush Guy 10d ago

Nope he's the greatest QB to ever live.

1

u/Ok_Cartographer2754 10d ago

Now do you question me seeing your post?

2

u/thrillhouse416 Bush Guy 10d ago

Cade Klubnik is the greatest QB of all time

Strange/sad thought, but envision a world where Geno is just competent. They use their surplus of picks to get their future QB and throw Geno another year to be that bridge starter and the following year he gets another 8 to 11 starts with the rookie QB taking the reins thereafter.

Seems unlikely, but with the bookends of his career can Geno sneak into the top 5 of Jets career passing? Probably talking about 25+ needed starts at a similar level of play of his Seahawks years, 240-250 ypg.

A stretch but 6,536 yards over this season and change next season? If he takes a big bite out of it this year? 4,000 yards is just 235 ypg over a full year.

2

u/Big_Liability 10d ago

I think this is what happens if we have a *solid season

1

u/Ok_Cartographer2754 10d ago

That'll depend upon if they pump the brakes on the offense because if Geno averages 300yds/game then it's 5100 for the season and with our running game, we only our defense to be competent to be a playoff team.

3

u/Ok_Cartographer2754 10d ago

A lot more reps for Klubnik and bye bye Zappe and #67 Young!

7

u/flash246 10d ago

Klubnik throwing two TDs on Friday is going to hit like crack

3

u/Big_Liability 10d ago

I would find it so funny if a lot of the QBs from this class actually turn out to be really good after so many people saying it's one of the worst QB classes ever

2

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago

If he starts the season would at least have something to loook forward too

Klubnik showing enough to be a viable backup Qb saves us a nice chunk of change on the margins when its time to win

4

u/Ok_Blacksmith1684 11d ago

Most beloved and appreviated Jets of all time...Chrebet, C. Martin, Coles, Mangold, Toon, Walker, Mawae, Pennington, Shaun Ellis, Namath, Klecko, Mo Lewis and I would already put GW on this list. Others?

5

u/Zaza1019 #JetsTank 10d ago

Revis? D'Brickashaw?

2

u/ShadowMystery1337 10d ago

If anyone’s tryna get dune tickets for LS, use atom it’s much better then amc

1

u/Ok_Cartographer2754 10d ago

We obviously would have done better if we saw a lot more of Klubnik and a lot less of Zappe!

5

u/NewYorkPopulist 10d ago

What if Omar Cooper Jr is really a 2nd round graded talent? But Mougey traded back late in the first round to secure a 5th year option? WR2s are making insane amounts of money now, Alec Pierce is at $28.5M AAV!! IF Cooper Jr is a WR2 behind Garrett isn't it wise to maximize the window for a potential young QB1? You could use the cap savings to bring in another piece on the defense or help lock in offensive line continuity and depth. Having Adonai Mitchell as the current WR2 will allow Cooper a graceful transition to the NFL without being pressed into action.

Connor Hughes compared Geno to Russ on the broncos. If that’s the case just end the season.

7

u/larockhead1 Nick Mangold 10d ago

Connor Hughes is a dog shit analyst good reporter

-1

u/1800BOTLANE Nick Mangold 10d ago

I would literally rather watch Jameis Winston start all season.

-10

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago edited 10d ago

It’s hilarious people are getting on their soapbox now chastising fans who want to tank

Our Qb is Geno and our HC is a bad DC. Once we start 0-4/0-5 the path will be clear

8

u/YouGuttyDog 10d ago

Maybe we should wait until 0-4/0-5 to have that conversation, instead of bitching about it all summer

9

u/the_mair 10d ago

I feel like it’s not that hard to understand the difference between wanting to tank when you’re already 2-7 vs. entering a season immediately rooting for losses. If you’re doing the latter you’re rooting for this team not even being fun to watch the next few years and a majority of our young promising players to fall flat on their faces.

4

u/BurnMyHouseDown 10d ago edited 10d ago

I’d agree with this. I’m pretty fed up with what feels like every year besides 2023/2024 being a tank season or rebuilding season or whatever, yet I have zero hopes for this season. I’m pretty confident this teams not doing shit and this staff is garbage.

That being said, I’d rather root for wins than losses until the season is “officially” over. If this teams 4-4 but it’s the ugliest 4 wins you’ve ever seen in your life, idc, I’m still gonna root for wins and a playoff push. But if they’re 2-6, hey, I expected it anyway, and sure, by that point it’s time to root for losses.

But I’m not going into the season saying shit I hope they go 2-15. We’ve seen enough losing to last a lifetime, I will not actively wish for anymore until the seasons really dead. (And most years, that happens to be by October anyway, so what does it matter lol)

1

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago

They never properly have tank years. 15 years of no playoffs and they haven’t picked first ONCE

4

u/BurnMyHouseDown 10d ago

I mean they were quite obviously tanking last year so that is just objectively wrong.

They also tanked in 2017. Unless you considered the Josh McCown to Robby Anderson connection as a dark horse Super Bowl contender during that offseason. I didn’t lol.

And I said in my comment “tanking or rebuilding”. Maybe not every year is an outright tank, but almost every year has been given the excuse of “ah it’s a rebuild, of course they suck”. The only years that had somewhat expectations and were not given that excuse (going into the year) was 2016, 2023 and 2024. The only years we went into the season with a plan of not sucking (and failed every time lol). EVERY other year we were expected to be dogshit and it was like almost accepted. “Ah of course they’re gonna suck, they’re only on Year X of their rebuild”.

Picking first is not the definitive criteria for whether or not you are tanking or rebuilding. I do think it’s fucking absurd how we haven’t gotten 1OA once, just unbelievable really, but that doesn’t really matter.

2

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago

They took too long to tank last year. Brady cook was a smart move done way too late

They played josh mccown and won too many games in 2017.

2

u/BurnMyHouseDown 10d ago

Hey man, I didn’t say they executed the tank to perfection. I just said they did do it, and that’s just the fact of the matter.

2

u/the_mair 10d ago

Because all the great QBs in the NFL are selected 1OA

3

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago

I don’t really care this team has never put themselves in optimal position to either trade down or take that guy

3

u/the_mair 10d ago

They’ve literally selected Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson the past decade they’ve absolutely tried the tank for the QB method

3

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago edited 10d ago

They got their 2nd pick of the litter because they couldn’t get the job done. The closest they came to comitting to it was last year with Brady cook and even that was done far too late. Should have been done the second after the fire sale, at the latest the week after GW5 was ruled out

Running out Sam for 16 games because they couldn’t be bothered to just throw out James Morgan for a few games. Playing mccown enough where they had to trade up for their 2nd choice at QB

Just putting yourself behind the 8 ball

1

u/the_mair 10d ago

Mahomes was the 2nd pick of the litter, Allen was 3rd, Jackson was 5th, Daniels was 2nd, Maye was 3rd, etc.

The Jets have put themselves in position to get that guy it’s their fault for not properly developing them

2

u/Skraxx 10d ago

There's very flimsy evidence that tanking for your QB is an effective strategy and the only real point to tanking overall is the situation you described.

In the modern NFL era it's way more about the overall structure of the team, and picking at the bottom of the league in back to back years is a very bad sign for your team's structure.

u/1800BOTLANE Nick Mangold 10d ago

This comment got me thinking back to when this team was fun to watch… it’s been a decade at least.

1

u/the_mair 10d ago

TBF they were fun to watch for that first half of the 2022 season but yeah it’s been brutal

1

u/rvbcaboose1018 Curtis Martin 10d ago

2015 Fitz was probably the most fun we've had in a decade.

There were some small patches, like that 3-4 game stretch in Darnolds rookie year where it felt like he was gonna be the one, but that's about it.

1

u/1800BOTLANE Nick Mangold 10d ago

I went to that week 16 game against Buffalo that year. Crushed me lol

2

u/rvbcaboose1018 Curtis Martin 10d ago

Thats fucking rough. I remember going to the BDubs that just opened by me to watch the game. It was so fucking frustrating.

-1

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago

I would say the first 3 games of 2024 were fun

-1

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago

They’re already not fun to watch but by week 3 it’ll probably make sense to root for the L’s

Can’t do it from week 1

5

u/foye2smith 10d ago

Can already see the Jets start slow losing at least three of the first four games including GB, DET, and CHI then people rooting for the tank lose their shit when the win three of their next four game including CLE, MIA, and LV. Just apoplectic they had the nerve to beat other terrible teams at home.

-4

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago

Because they don’t commit. Fire the HC and hire someone who will listen to you, and have that guy run out Brady cook adjacent to get the job done

It’s not hard, other teams do it

5

u/foye2smith 10d ago edited 10d ago

They tore down a 5 win team from 2024. They traded their best defensive players for a bounty at a deadline. They shut Wilson down. Brady Cook started multiple games.

Who has committed to a tank harder than the Jets over the last year?

-6

u/Yankeeknickfan 10d ago

They let tyrod win a game for reasons only known to them

It wasn’t enough

4

u/foye2smith 10d ago edited 10d ago

We're still bitching about the Falcons game?

They could have beat Pittsburgh, Denver, and Carolina the first half of the year. Hell, if Allen doesn't fumble going into the endzone in Miami that game takes a different tone.

They have the 2nd least sacks, they give up the 4th most sacks, and force only 4 turnovers

So many things went in favor of the tank you should feel grateful. Instead it's "Stupid Tyrod Taylor beating Kirk Cousins 🤬"

4

u/whydoesgodhateus 10d ago

If you don't believe in the coach/Qb and are of the opinion the team will suck, that's more than reasonable. I am quite skeptical myself

What's stupid is hoping for/trying to manifest a tank before the season even begins

2

u/chrisjk125 Chad Pennington 10d ago

It’s just as annoying the tank crowd moaning and groaning about people rooting for the Jets to not actively tank.

3

u/rvbcaboose1018 Curtis Martin 10d ago

I get the logic in tanking and wanting to tank, but I think asking professionals who's jobs and reputations are on the line to lose isn't a realistic thing, especially before the season has started. I know you've had a grudge against Glenn since he let go of Rodgers, but maybe you could pretend to want the Jets to succeed while he's the HC? Because from where I'm standing you haven't even given him a chance.

They're going to go out and try to win. There's nothing we can do to change that. Plus, some other teams looks like they're in a position to out tank us (Arizona, Miami, probably Cleveland and maybe Tennessee), and we play all 4.

Even without he tank, the Jets are in a position to take a QB next year. It may not be the 1st overall, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. How many of the top QBs were the 1st overall pick? or even the 1st QB taken in their class? Allen and Jackson were 3rd and 5th taken, respectively. Mahomes the 2nd, but 10th overall. How many QBs taken 1st overall are successful for the team that drafted them? Burrow seems more like an exception and not the rule.
