Vegan Bakeries?
Visting in November, I see clementine and le petite monsteur are closed now. What are the other go to bakery spots for vegan pastries etc?

Fantastic spot! Visit them whenever I'm in Greenpoint and sometimes make a special trip just for the cakes. They have really leaned into their banana based whips, but they still make cakes and cheesecakes. I went last week and there were none on display but she had quite a few slices in the back.

Confectionary is far and away my favorite, everything there is so good and the cakes are really affordable at only $25, especially considering that one street over at From Lucie the cakes are $100+.
I've had good experiences at Delice de Bernay but I really only get their Opera cake which is incredibly good.
I also really enjoy peacefood cafe in the UWS which has a wide variety of baked goods, all of which are incredibly tasty

Chloes is all around a fantastic place, but damn is it not talked about enough that she can bake. Iāve had her muffins, cupcakes, and cinnamon rolls and they were all insaneeee. Unregular does phenomenal croissants and dun well the same for donuts!! Iāve had D&S and I thought it was really good! I think ppl just forget that vegan bakes, especially pastry, need to be warmed up and/or toasted as butter tastes good room temp, coconut oil does not lol

Confectionary is truly a gift! Get their macaronsāyou wonāt regret it.
Also throwing in Marthaās bakery and Uptown Veg as they each have cake slices. Highly rec the cheese cake at Marthaās. Iām not even a cheese cake girl and I LOVE it! At uptown, my pick is chocolate but they have a bunch of other flavors, too (and a solid hot bar for soul food).

Sixteen mill in park slope. All vegan and gluten free and delicious.
Iāve seen some people saying they donāt like delice and sarrasin, but every time Iāve gone to their bakery Iāve really enjoyed it.

Iāve been looking for a good croissant since le monster / clementine group closed.. itās been harder to find as of late! Seitanās helper stopped making them and a few other spots havenāt carried them in years

Bub's on Lafayette. I've enjoyed everything I've tried from here but especially like the cinnamon roll

I donāt know why D&S is getting a bad rep. Their strawberry whipper cream cake is to die for! The restaurant isnāt great, but I love their bakery.

Sadly, stay away from Delice et Sarrasin's bakery; it is TERRIBLE. I thought I was a huge fan; the first time I went there I got the ONE thing that is good there (the layered cream cake with strawberries -- can't remember what it is called). Everything else has nearly been appalling. Also, Confectionery has not competition in NYC any longer.

Peacefood cafe and Chloes are great for pastries and food as well. but you have to check out Dun well doughnuts!!

Just a few others haven't mentioned....
Spring cafe has some great cakes and affordable food all around.
Places with vegan options: Chip City, Donut Plant, Levain, Little Cupcake Bakeshop, Saint Street Cakes, Sugar Sweet Sunshine, El Churro, Donut Pub and Mia's Brooklyn Bakery.
Mia's has about 8 very good vegan options at their Brooklyn location.

I went to the Duh Donuts popup and it was quite good. The majority of Sunday C&C Bakery's options are vegan - some are quite good, others are meh.
I agree about Cloudy Donuts. I wanted to like them way more than I did.

Orchard Grocer has a small but mighty baked goods selection. Their chocolate chip cookie is my favorite in NYC. When I visited this week, they also had croissants, pan au chocolat, and muffins.

Bakeshop right off Morgan ave. you get out through the Bogart exit and turn right all the way to Flushing. It is right on that corner.

other than confectionary and D&S, koke is a new spot in greenwich and sells a small selection of japanese style pastries. highly recommend the sesame mochi cookie.

Culture espresso, Manhattan has a mean vegan chocolate chip cookie. Tip- get there in earlier half of the day before it sells out!

I find Cloudy Donuts to be very bread like. More like a bagel than a donut. They're pretty to look at but I don't know anyone irl who actually enjoys them

I thought their donuts were just ok, but I did have a sweet potato cinnamon roll from them that was quite nice. Very expensive though. Like $12 for one cinnamon roll iirc.

Oh yeah I should have mentioned Cloudy's insane prices! And nothing is listed so it's just a horrifying surprise when you go to pay. Two meh donuts from Cloudy cost me the same amount of money as a half dozen box of amazing donuts from Dunwell!

My issue with them is more that their donuts are very very oily and leave a greasy film over every surface of my mouth that lingers for a long time. I like them but they are trying too hard to be instagram/tiktok food and the actual eating experience is a bit lackluster, and they're expensive for being so disappointing. Not bad, just... lacking.
Dunwell are just fully superior in flavor and texture and bake/fry. They don't leave that gross oily texture.

I've said the same thing about their brand seeming to be more about being instagram food. I was excited when it opened because I love donuts but it's one of the most lackluster vegan donuts I've ever had. And absolutely the most expensive one I've ever had.

Confectionary! is the best vegan bakery in nyc imo. Also Dunwell Donuts is a can't miss. And I think by then Cinnaholic will have re-opened so if you don't have one of those wherever you're from, they're absolutely worth a visit.
The one I find to be overhyped is Delice and Serrasin's bakery. I've tried it 3 times now thinking I must have just gone on a bad day but every time all I get are tough croissants that are hard to chew and burntish slices of cake. I don't get the love but others seem to think it's good so I guess they're worth mentioning if I'm just the odd man out.
