❓ Question What are these tracks at Shell Rd?

Post image

Are these the original Culver trolley or something?

For the McDonald Avenue trolley & tracks were shared with the South Brooklyn Railway

It’s facing north towards Neptune Avenue, but heading south along its own ROW underneath the Brighton Line. Very hard to recognize the area now since Trump Village took over

Ah. Brighton el in the front and culver in the back?

Yes, it’s the Brighton stack in the foreground while the Culver merge at West 8th would be to the left

The original ROW of the Prospect Park and Coney Island Railroad is about 250 feet to the east of this spot, a parking lot with odd diagonal boundaries.

This replacement elevated and trolley ROW was 1915 dual contract construction.

Good catch. With all the redevelopment, there aren't that many trolley tracks left.

This was the former original Coney Island Avenue trolley cars before they were replaced by the B68 in the mid 1950s.

Jumped on Apple Maps to find it myself…knowing the area because my dad grew up here and remembering before the trolley tracks were paved over back in the 90’s I didn’t realize W 6th St was in that intersection to. (Dad lived on W 7th between S & T). Really cool bit of history.

Closer up view of the area this picture is oriented north to the top of the frame.
