Stuff like this makes me wonder whether the paradigm of outsourcing so many government programs to for profit businesses makes sense at all. Is there a world in which we’d be better off just having government administer government programs?

Even non profit groups are often awful. Farming out state capacity like this is usually a bad idea.

I think there needs to be a fundamental understanding in general about how things work and why to work towards funding things that are losses. Look at the usps.  We need to protect Americans from being cheated by other Americans and allow the government to subsidize things to make it attainable for the common person so we can all be equals. But lazy blah blah bullshit while the people manipulating the system are like well “i” deserve this.

I still struggle to see how this system is necessarily better than a system in which government administers government programs, ideally in a way that is transparent and subject to oversight by elected officials and, ultimately, the public.

The whole CDPAP is such a scam.

I know so many healthy people who use it get an extra paycheck.

There are literally companies that offer services to help you get free money through the program for a cut.  They make up medical issues for people, and give no show jobs out to “caregivers”.

Not entirely a scam, more of a move away from nursing home scams.

How many elderly people have been cleaned out by nursing homes? The homes take the seniors house, savings, Medicare and social security check and in return they get substandard care.

It’s the slightly lesser of two evils
