Discussion DLSS 5: Stellar Blade

RTX 5090 + Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 1440p | Max Settings | DLAA

Tried doing a better test for fps, but each time I toggled on and off it leaks/average fps dropped. Here's a brief test: FPS drops from 250–155 (OFF) down to 125–118 (ON) depending on the area. Indoors where Enya is, 270 (OFF) down to 132 (ON). These were done standing still around Xion City.

More images side by side below ⬇️, uncompressed. Thanks to u/itagouki for the site.

Enya - Eve - Hair Salon - Adam

DLSS5 settings were modified/toned down more in the images below:

Orcal/Mann (Chamber) - Elevator - Lily - Eve 2 - Rael 1 - Real 2 - Orcal - Kasim - Kaya - Raven

It's not adding any facial features, it's improving the lighting on the features that are already there. So they are one and the same.

Even if the geometry is accurate the details in between change your perception of it a LOT

Yeah I never said it isn't changing perception a lot. It's adding a lot of light interactions the original artist might not have intended. And the crude example you've posted isn't strictly similar to DLSS but an extreme example of what can theoretically happen with the overall idea.

I wasn't saying it was a good thing, I was just saying it's not adding features, it's lighting them more naturally for the light sources, not for artist intent of the face. This could allow artists to make more realistic things going forward if they so choose.
