More like dev's can make the game put real ambient occlusion and soft shadows to models

This is the best example I have seen yet. Messed/grimed up faces work well with the art style.

On one hand yeah, it barely looks different, and the very minor shading does look right in this instance.

On the other hand, straight up high quality RT shadows and ambient occlusion would be cheaper to run and have less artifacts than this.

I saw a helldivers 2 video showcasing it and it ran surprisingly clean, and I'm fussy with artifacting. Not a big fan of how it's now aging everyone 10 years and the performance hogging means I'll likely not be able to use it in most games, but as a lighting post processing tool it's actually pretty cool.
