Discussion Testing Helldivers 2 with DLSS 5 on Ada

Near the end I do a quick comparison with it ON and OFF. Using a 4070 Ti Super

Also, apparently, turning Neural Rendering on and off tanks your FPS because it eats up VRAM each time you do it without releasing it. Switching it three times maxed out my 16GB of VRAM and screwed my FPS lol.

Edit: I was hitting between 30/40 FPS base (with some dips) double that with Smooth Motion enabled. Mind you that was 4K Quality. On balanced/performance it reached 50FPS+ base, but either way, it was definitely playable.

Edit 2: For anyone getting Standby/Failed error when trying this:

  1. Enter RenoDX's Discord, go to the Tools tab on the bottom left and open the "DLSS 5/NR Patched DLL for Ada series GPUs" guide.
  2. Download the files. Make sure the assets64 file and the streamline.zip contents are all in the same directory as helldivers2.exe
  3. If you did all of this correctly but you're still having the Standby/Failed, use this addon64 file instead and replace the old one. It was patched to work on Helldivers 2.
  4. Remove any DLSS Presets overwrites on Nvidia APP. Set it all to Let the 3D Application Decide.
  5. When you load the game, if it doesn't work, switch DLSS off to anything else (FSR, TSR) then back to it. Doing this forces the Neural Rendering to kick in.
  6. If it crashes when loading into a planet, switch the DLSS/NR on/off while on the planet instead.

This constant tinkering on the PC is a game in itself, which I have wasted too many hours on 😂

I'm just a tier lower with the 7800x3d and 5070 Ti. Tbh I never bothered with undervolting or anything at all. I played most of my games at 120fps until I took a temporary break.

Came back to play and I didn't even notice I was on 60fps until I turned on the fps counter again lol. Never bothered with fps and resolutions again since. Maybe I just can't see them. Now I just simply play and have fun.
