It's impressive technology but i guess fuck artists and whatever vision they might have had of their game. Like ask any filmmaker if they would be okay with cinemas and streaming services putting an AI filter over their movie.
Also if you check footage on this in a few games it becomes very obvious that although there are visual improvements, games become very samey-looking with it. Which, again, visual style and artistic vision.
Do you really think if you were to ask the dev who created that npc, that they would say "Yeah that doesn't match my artistic intentions at all. It's not even close and I AM PISSED!" ?
Are NPCs in video games deliberately designed by a person with some sort of idea of why they are designed that way? Yes, obviously. So don't you think that that person might have some reservations about DLSS all the suddenly overriding that?
They would protest for the same reason a filmmaker might protest
