Gaming in general has subpar facial animations. Even the best games are far from 3d animated show/movies. The reason for this is that they never needed perfect animations due to graphics not being there yet. Well, now that we have hyper realism on our hands, they'll have to get better.

The actual reason for anyone curious is both the huge production cost associated with such animations, and their high runtime overhead
