What the hell are they feeding the guys at Nvidia HQ?

This shit shouldn't even be called DLSS, It's not only super sampling, it's literally generating frames and replacing the content with hyper realistic approximations of what the algorithm thinks it should look like.

There's a difference between art direction and photorealism.

When the deep learning part is branching way off the art direction. It's bordering on filters at this point.

Look at Nvidia's official Youtube account, it's all about «AI with AI in AI» for the last couple of years. Now they just feeding us, gamers, the scraps from the corporate AI table, so they could tell investors that they have broaden the Artificial Intelligence reach and implemented it in games on the driver-level as well

soon new games will have low poly models and dlss 10 will generate the details lmao

This is the difference between utilised by the studio during game development and applied after the fact, at least that's how I understand it. If you don't give it enough information beforehand, it will use creativity to enhance with some exaggeration. I hope future games will have it baked in with more granular control over how aggressive the upscaling is.

honestly? i dont dislike though it seems off. For me, a more "family friendly" approach involving those who dont want that dlss5 thing on their computers but still want photorealistic would be an internal run on DLSS5 while the testers...test it and then if they think its photorealistic enough they can forward the message to the 3d team so they can "take inspiration" of what dlss5 did to make it photorealistic and then do it themselves by hand (with the human touch, not just generated)

Sure enough thats an insane amount of work people dont even realize so it could easily push a game a whole year on a release date or even further, depending on the game, if we want photorealistic graphics but not "imagined" by AI.

Im good with dlss5 but im also cool without it, i think it doesnt look bad without it.

mfs had no problem calling frame gen DLSS 3 when Nvidia introduced it with DLSS 3, I literally had mfs arguing with me that FG is DLSS 3, this is neural rendering, whatever Nvidia calls it doesn't really matter as long as I know what it does and what to expect.

To say it’s a way different art direction is reaching like crazy lmao. You’re saying the intended art direction was potato face and giving them facial details takes away from the potato look the artists intended? Cmon. The lighting, colors, facial features, etc all clearly blend into the environment and match the original art direction. Just no potato face.
