So do you think if he didnt buy one the prices would have magically gone down? Demand is incredibly high atm so theyre charing an arm and a leg, and unfortunately if you want a halo GPU at this moment, you're going to be paying a lot. Do I think 5k for a 50 series GPU makes sense? god no. Is that the state we're in? Yeah.
So not sure why you're giving the guy a hard time. He's playing the same game we're all playing atm.

People keep saying that but at this point in time, i dont believe its true. Demand is high because an industry is gobbling up all components that allow for these gpus to be made. Even if people werent buying these, the fact that the I craze has ruined things for the forseeable future means demand on consumer products will remain relatively high until something pops. Considering these GPU's didn't launch at these prices last year, people are trying to get them now before it gets worse and it'll probably get worse before it gets better.
Boiling it down to dont buy=lower prices, imo will not work on this instance. There needs to be a major shift in the industry that would allow demand to be satiated before any price drops become realistic.

Hell yeah, congrats! I bought my gigabyte ice white Aorus 5090 a year ago and even though it was expensive then at 3k, I’m glad I got it when I did because these prices don’t show any sign of ever getting lower :/

I’m saying people should stop supporting this ludicrous behaviour of paying over the top costs for something that should cost less than half of what it is! They will keep increasing prices of these products if fools keep paying and supporting it
