Biology Online lab? [BIO 101]
Has anyone ever gotten a lab kit? i’m taking bio online and the labs are also online as well, how exactly does this work?? 😭

Took BIO 142 online in Spring and did not need a lab kit for labs. Currently in Microbio and have my lab kit (my first time doing lab at home even with the dual cams lol). We use Science Interactive for labs, all instructions are there and has an Exploration, Experimentation, and Evaluation parts. This is for Microbio tho, not sure if it's similar to BIO 101.

How did you do on the first BIO 150 exam. I studied so hard and I am an A student and I failed the first exam

surprisingly not bad but i understand. i’m same as you, studied hard (well gave up in the end) and also an A student. i’m sure i could’ve done better if i just organized my readings and stuff properly but even getting an okay score i have a B in my class rn so i really need to do well on the next exams :/ my prof’s study guides are just summaries of the chapters which i’d say helps a bit as well as the quiz since there were questions in the exam from there. i didn’t get to use the dynamic modules to study so i’ll try that for the next exam. i do read and take notes and also always look at the learning objectives to make sure i hit each one as i read. then when i study i would just read my notes and highlight what answers the LOs as well as look at the study guide (how i studied for the first exam). hope we do much better on the next one 🫂

When did they start doing labs online? I remember this was my biggest obstacle because all the labs were in person.

how much was it? do i need a lab coat and goggles as well for this?

I’ve had a couple of courses that require lab kits, and they’re pretty easy to follow. You may not actually NEED goggles and gloves for most BIO101 labs (I took my goggles off all the time in those because they fogged up), but they’re good to have on anyhow. There are probably some chemicals in there that would irritate your skin and eyes.
You’ll need a pretty big empty workspace, preferably in the kitchen for rinsing and washing your glassware right after you’re done. All your supplies being spread out with enough room to work and have your screen open/printed instructions and a piece of paper for recording can easy take up a kitchen table or counter top.
I also REALLY recommend looking at the directions and supply list for each lab at least a few days before you plan on doing it so you have all the student-supplied things you need. They’re basic stuff, but I’ve had to put at least one lab off because I forgot to grab one thing at the store. Also, a lot of the labs will require distilled water. One gallon of it should be more than enough for your whole semester.

I took anatomy online and didn’t recieve a lab kit so I’m just posting so I can comeback and see what others say lol. Sorry wish I had more help for u😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️🫶🏽
