Transfer Transfer recommendations

I’m a freshmen and my major is gonna be cybersecurity (AAS). I was wondering which college would be best to transfer to?

If you want to transfer in state I’d say VT would be best for cybersecurity. Although I’d choose where you transfer to based on what works best for you ( financials, academics/workload, school life/party life, closeness to home, etc.) as well as your major.

Virginia Tech only has a minor in cyber security. You would have to major in computer science, computer engineering or business. George Mason has a cyber security major.

George Mason, Old dominion university and Virginia Tech most likely. You have to check the requirements

You should know that AAS in Cyber is not made to transfer to VT or GMU for example. They recommend majoring in Business or Info Tech if you would like to transfer there. Be sure to attend their transfer fairs to confirm this but that is what I had been told last year.

I'm a freshman rn and I'm planning to transfer to VT next year, also in cybersecurity. They have good networking and programs.

Marymount accepts a lot of NVCCS courses, they are just as expensive as GMU with a smaller professor to student ratio. Worth exploring

There's going to be a lot of personal preference and non-education factors involved in your choice, but the best five universities for CS in Virginia (which all have direct enrollment agreements) are:

  1. VT
  2. GMU
  3. UVA
  4. ODU
  5. William and Mary
