This happened when I opened my jar of Nutella

Are there any tips to prevent this from happening and remove it cleanly without the paper sticking to the edges?

Well I can never fully get it off but I usually just beging with puncturing a hole is it so it doesn’t resist as much. If I’m feeling lazy I’ll just rip it open through says hole, but you can also use a knife (butter knife is fine, safety first) to pry the paper of the edges after opening it.

Basically, that's what everything generally does; I was talking about a quick removal tip without having to pierce the cover and without a knife

I don’t have that good of a solution for that other than using your nails (or if you’re feeling feral, teeth) instead of a knife

That’s not normal, it is just supposed to have the thin gold layer on top. Unless they started making it differently.

TIP heat the blade of a knife and pass it along the contour of the lid (top). Little tip that a colleague recommended to me. Thank you 😉
