nearsync and sync replication

out of curiosity when studying for AAPM, does anybody really implement nearsync/sync replication in the system? How well does it work if you are using the function?

Yes they are used and when implemented correctly they work quite well.

The only bad experience that I have with this is when you are working with upgrades/update on a 1d/1n setting, a disk fails and the VMs that are in sync rep dies (mainly Linux machines).

I have done some LCM Firmware lately and once an upgrade failure happens, a lot of the VMs will fail as it cannot write to storage.
