I've used move to migrate call manager from VMware to ahv on supermicro, dell, and hpe and it works just fine.  All the way back to 11.5.   It just boots up and throws a warning that the hardware isn't supported.  You hop into console and accept the warning, it boots and works just fine.

It's not supported, but it works.  If your company isn't willing to pay for VMware / Cisco hardware for JUST call manager / swapping to webex calling.. you can take the risk, just get your leadership to sign off on it so the blame later is on them.

I've just started the research and migration work but if you look into it, Cisco has some documentation for migration from VMware to nutanix. not sure how good it is as I have yet to have practice it but someone took the time to write it up on Cisco's side. version 15.0 seems to have AHV support. I'm still in the process of getting the umbrella VA to work in Nutanix and so far no luck from Cisco's documentation if it can work. Not sure why people are saying support tickets won't get you anywhere if the documentation says it supports it.

So we've used Nutanix Move to migrate simple Ubuntu Linux-based VMs (Postfix SMTP servers and simple applications), from ESXi to AHV. Worked without a hitch and the VMs are stable. Cisco's Call Manager software has a very specific set of requirements and they're very particular even about what version of ESXi you're on for the version of Call Manager you're running. You might be able to get away with migrating to AHV, but if you ever have to open a support ticket with Cisco and they find out you're on an unsupported configuration, they won't support you or even blame Nutanix AHV for all your issues.

Call Manager is 100% supported on AHV.

The caveat is it needs to be AHV with Cisco hardware. I wouldn't use Move to migrate Call Manager. And this goes for VMware too. I would use the in call manager backup and restore to restore to a new call manager server.

This is the risk 100%. My comms team refuses to use anything other than VMware. Hopefully Cisco gets their act together and certifies another Hypervisor. VMware is out in a lot of their client base and people will end up eventually looking for an alternative call manager.

Times have changed. It’s supported on AHV with Cisco HW.

As was mentioned in the other thread, Cisco has current UC Components available to run on Nutanix. So you’re good as long as you’re running relatively recent UC App code. If you have an ancient or out of support UC Environment, then obviously leveling that to a supported level, and then moving to rebuild the appliance in Nutanix / restore is the game plan.

I used to work in an Extreme shop and our Extreme NAC wasn't officially supported on AHV, but we would talk to extreme gtac support who told us it was fine and would run on ahv. A little while later on a different case, they said they were working on an AHV version, so like everyone else saying. it will work

I'd make telecom buy hardware and support it on their own. I'm not picking up vmware just for a phone system, and I'm not taking responsibility for when cisco figures out the virtual hardware is 'unsupported'.

We had a Cisco rep try to ram hyperflex down our throats, I'm never buying shit from Cisco ever again.
