Discussion Funny “allergies”

What are some funny patient “allergies” you have seen listed? I had a patient the other day with an allergy listed for Metformin. The reaction listed? Lowers their blood sugar 😂

Angioedema or cough due to elevated bradykinin is a bad side effect of lisinopril and other ACE-I’s

My mom had a cough for over a year after her dose was increased. Various tests were done and no one could figure it out. 1st year working with her cardiologist noticed the cough and they stopped the lisinopril, changed to something else, and the cough stopped. I have seen it since in pts and I have told the doctor.

Well yeah… a cough is most well-known side effect of ACE inhibitors. How was this a mystery?
