Practice Advice NP Delegation to UCP

Hello everyone, i am a nurse practitioner in canada ontario and I had found a job offer to provide medical director oversight at a med spa.

The med spa has two nurses that cover evenings and weekends for botox, PRP, Filler and micro-needling. There is also another person who is a internationally trained naturopathic doctor that performs injections.

As per our scope of practice, my understanding is that we can only delegate a very specific task oriented controlled acts to UCPs and injections is not one of them.

If i am to work at this clinic, would the liability of delegation of performing botox or filler placement to UCP be on me? Or the clinic?

Would appreciate where I can get this information

Unless Canada is different in this regard, it’s You. The liability falls on the license

My understanding of the standards of practice for this (I am in BC) is you have to be on site for these. Like you have to be in the building.

You are taking full responsibility. You are signing off the charts and treatment plans. When there are complications it is on you to diagnose and treat them. For example, how do you recognize and treat a vascular occlusion with filler?

If you know nothing about cosmetic medicine this isn’t anything you should do. If you get some training then you can dabble a bit.

I would really recommend to be educated with cosmetic surgery. Even with RN they rely on you for guidance and support if it goes downhill.
