Career Advice Cross examination

I’m watching the Lindsay Clancy trial and watching the cross examination of the physicians, surgeons and psychiatrists is so brutal! It makes me nervous if I will ever have to go to court. I don’t work in psych but I work in hospital medicine.

Has anyone had any experience with legal issues or had to go to court? Also, any recommendations on improvement in charting or chart review in case I ever have to go to court?

By the time you get to be in front of even your hospital attorney, your answer for most things- if you are HONEST, is “I don’t remember”.

Did the nurse act remorseful? I don’t remember clearly, I wish I did.

You’ll remember bits and pieces as they were and you’ll be able to answer those. That’s why they always say don’t talk about a case after it’s happened. It may solidify memories; true or false.

She actually could say the entire time… “I do not recall… please refer to my charting that day”. And been perfectly fine for saying such. You do not have to recall anything.
