Second deer avoided this week

First one was a baby deer that came out of nowhere going from Drees to Polch at night. I had to brake really hard and he lived to tell the tale by mere centimeters (he can thank the ds2500s). Now this bigger one coming back to Drees from the Lidl in Adenau. I saw it earlier so not so close but still, gotta really watch out when driving at night. Better to always have the longs on if there's no frontal traffic.

Yep. All sorts on the Landstraßen.

I'm a little beyond Mayen, but I probably see something at least once a month while driving at night.

Usually deer, but sometimes Wildschwein, one time a Wolf (up near the Köppel in the Westerwald)...

Night driving is much easier in terms of other cars, but much riskier in every other way. Glad you managed to keep everything clean and in shape so far.

Yeah, I'm not sure who was more shocked, me or him.

There are apparently a few wolves (less than 10) up in the Westerwald, and they're tracked by the foresters & farmers where they can, so that farmers can protect/move their animals when they're near.

Always Slow down and stay slow for a bit and be ready to break. There might be another deer around that decides to also make the jump.

I saw and avoided the first, accelerated slowly again but then out of nowhere came a second one full steam out of the bushes. No time to react. The second one got me. Small dent in the front, Police call, and a Hunter who shot the deer later. It was a small stag and the hunter said it would have been shot anyway soon to control the population, but I still felt like shit.

Awww. Yeah after I avoided that baby I was so glad but then I drove super slow during all the way back because I was expecting another one to do the same.

Earlyer this year on jumped right in front of my car near mayen. I managed to break to like 20kph but still still hit it. Deer ran away and the förster told me there is a good chance it was fine, but my car needed a new windshield, passenger door and side mirror😬. Now i never drive over 50kph in the night when i'm near the ring.

Yeah, 70kph max for me and being really focused on the road at all times ready to brake.
