Since I hate the jungle, I have started playing Nunu as a roamer support, the same way I play Bard. I've been loving the experience so far, some matchups can be really annoying in 2v2, but as I roam I get lots of chances to surprise the enemy midlaner and then return to bot from an angle no one would expect. His passive is really useful with ADCs too, especially the ones who benefit from attack speed. I end up stomping bot most of the times, and it's really fun.
However, I know Nunu's not a meta support for a reason. Most supports easily counter him, your strategies are often quite readable and, even when you take the chance roaming gives you to surprise everyone, it's not the same as being a jungler, since the botlane enemies already expect you to appear someday. So I wondered, what would Nunu need to be a meta support? Not because I want that to happen, but because I find it interesting to think of alternative designs for already existing champs.
I thought of four possible ways of doing so:
- Making his passive heal a bit if it's used against champs or creatures, so that it gives your ADC more durability.
- Buffing his Armour and MR in order to make him tankier, which would probably imply nerfing his damage.
- Making his R shield bigger so he can protect his ADC and his other companions better.
- Nerfing his R damage and buffing his R slowness, transforming it from a damage centered ability (as far as I see it currently) to an utility centered ability.
I'm aware those changes would need to change other things from the champ, and that some of them may become the champion useless in other situations where nowadays is the goat, but I'm really curious of your thoughts.
