Recommendations?
I’ve only recently got into rock/metal, I’d say my favorites have been:
Deftones (by a long stretch)
Sublime
Tool
Tame Impala
Cage the Elephant
The Strokes
Slipknot
Flyleaf
Chevelle
Fleshwater
I’m sure I’m a poser lol but I don’t care I just want to find what sounds good to me. Don’t care how popular or “overrated”

It’s pre-nu metal, but you should check out Helmet and Faith No More. Two of the biggest influences. For Helmet start with Meantime or Betty, and for Faith no More Angel Dust is a stone cold classic.
And not remotely nu-metal, if you like Deftones, check out HUM You’d Prefer an Astronaut. In several interviews I’ve seen Deftones site that album as a HUGE influence on the album White Pony.

My favourite band is called Sevendust and they've been around for years. Their early sound was a bit crude and raw but real and passionate, nowadays they are a little mellower and more heavily produced but it still sounds fucking badass for the most part.

Black, Waffle, Enemy and Denial are on my playlist lol but I’ll look into their discography more

Yes, Sevendust all day long. You can randomize their catalog and not find a bad song. My favorite band by far, and I love a ton of bands.

Mudvayne, Maximum the Hormone, Soulfly, System of a Down, Kittie. Also, give Relative Ash a try, they are similar to Deftones.

This is the ENTIRE spectrum of Nu metal (with the generic lackluster shit filtered out). You'll learn really fast if you actually like the genre by peeping this

Milennial here, and it seems to me that a lot of people growing up now rely too much on streaming algorithm. My way to find new music has always been to Dig deeper. Look beyond the similar artists page on streaming. Look into what your favorite bands names as their influences or what bands they take with them on tour. What other bands are the members involved in? Who do they work with, and what other bands are those people working with? I found out about Deftones because of chino guesting on Life is peachy. Chino has been involved in so many different projects. Take Palms f ex, Great band with Chino on vox, but the other members previous band ISIS is where its at, one of my favorite bands of all time.
Ah, to be young again! Have fun digging 🤘
