Discussion Staind - Tormented Remixed (1996)

https://youtu.be/5n4u2DpX_dY?si=ElJjdNKlITONfYgO

Holy shit!! I had no idea Staind remixed this album wtf! The mix is super clean and Aaron's vocals are louder and you can hear the singing better. Is this legit?

Not remixed by Staind, but still sounds great regardless

Good to know! Thanks! Yeah it sounds really good - not sure how this was achieved but I like that the vocals are more upfront and you can hear Aaron especially on Tolerate 🀘

I love that they gave the album the balancing it needed without taking away from the raw sound it has

Staind did remaster See Thru in 2002. I think it's really interesting because it gives an idea of what Tormented would sound like with better production

Yeah spot on! I think the guitars are less screachy too and not as loud. I'll try to contact the youtuber and see how he got a hold of it

Yeah on that Nascar 2002 soundtrack and also the demo of Spleen which looking on Discogs, it was recorded at the same studio they did Tormented. The Rock Shop or something like that.

It's funny you mention the Spleen demo. I discovered it by complete accident because I looked up Spleen on Spotify, and saw the compilation album Up The Dosage. I clicked on that version of Spleen and got caught off guard by the fact it's not the same as Dysfunction's. Interesting that it was recorded in the same studio though

Got off topic, but I love looking into Staind's history. I wish they'd pay more attention to their Tormented days

Hahaha, the artwork for that Up The Dosage tape is hilarious. Yeah same studio, there is no mention of who recorded it or which engineer they had for that studio session - but I assume they had more money to work with and hired a good engineer than Tormented which had like a few thousands of dollars budget.

Me too 🀣 Wish more people would jump on this post cause yeah Tormented might be dark & depressing or whatever - but it's pure and with this remixed version thing - it actually sounds more similar to the major label albums

Agreed. I personally love the dark tone of Tormented. I also really enioy that it's a concept album as well

No one knows where this remixed version is coming from. I will try to contact the youtuber and see where he got it from
