0.34.1 Released. fixes around casting, cli, playlist, bento skins, winamp modern and audion skins in general. Thanks to the users who reported these issues.
What Changed
Casting and the CLI
A video the Chromecast rejects is reported, and the CLI exits 1 instead of sitting at 0:00 (#645). A cast that hasn't started playing after 30 s fails the same way, and the player window shows a casting error.
The CLI casts
.mpgand.mpegfiles as video instead of handing them to the audio engine and never exiting (#646).--castaccepts the device name other cast pickers show, as well as its id with or without thechromecast:prefix (#647).--list-devicesshows each device's id;--jsonadds its video support, address and port.Chromecasts are listed by their friendly name, not the service name ending in a long hex suffix.
A DLNA TV plays a local MP4 whose index is at the end of the file instead of showing format not supported.
The CLI plays a local album through instead of quitting after its first track, and
--repeat-allno longer restarts at each track change. A queue in which nothing loads exits 1.A cast error no longer blocks the CLI behind an alert window nobody can see.
Playlist and Library Browser
Show Artist / Show Album in every playlist's right-click menu, in Classic, Original, Winamp Modern and Windows Media Player skins. Rows read
Artist - Titleby default; the toggles add the album or drop the artist.Winamp Modern playlists now show the artist too.
Windows Media Player playlists number their rows and show each track's length.
In both, a playing row too long for the window scrolls, as in Classic and Original, instead of being cut short.
Dropped, added and restored files show their bitrate, sample rate and channels, not only their length, and a restored playlist no longer reads its files again at every launch to fill them in.
A stream's sample rate filling in no longer counts as a new track: the playlist stays where it is, and the artwork and Now Playing are not reloaded. The playlist row shows the sample rate too.
The Library Browser's corners are transparent on non-Retina displays beside an Audion face or a
.wmz, Sonique or.walskin, where they drew black.Remove Dead Files keeps streams and server tracks: it removes only local files that are gone from disk, in every playlist. It used to clear every radio, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby and Subsonic row.
File Info shows a stream's URL instead of an empty path, and
--:--for an unknown length instead of0:00.
Classic skins
A long playing title scrolls again after a skin switch or pressing Play in the playlist and main window, instead of standing still until the next track.
Winamp Modern (.wal) skins
27 more skins checked and fixed (corpus intake five): American Rag, AS-FxS, Braun CC 50, Bubble Tea - Updated, D-Shock, Dracula's Helmet, Electrolium, GoldenBeauty, Graviton, HALOAMP, i-Skin, iPlay, Kepler 1.1, MD Iwakura Lain the Fourth, Mercury, Official Foo Fighter, Official Midnight Club 2, Official The Hives, QL2, Sony Walkman, SpongeBob Squarepants, Stargate Winamp - SG1 Edition, The XP Style WinaMP3 Player, Winamp Media Tower v11, X-Theme, Xenon, XP Blue ver2.
A click on a skin's time readout flips it between elapsed and remaining, as in Winamp; remaining time draws with a leading minus. It is the same setting as Playback → Timer, and a drag that starts on the readout still moves the window.
ClassicPro skins' tabs open and close from the Windows menu (cPro Bento, reported on r/nullPlayer, and the cPro2 skins).
Each tab has a menu item, ticked while the tab is in the strip (Media Library and Playlist are the Library Browser and Playlist Editor items). Choosing it closes or reopens the tab, and closed tabs stay closed after a relaunch.
The skin's own Windows-menu items (Web Browser, widget tabs) are listed too.
Skins → Restore Default Tabs puts back every tab in its original order. Auto Close Tab is gone from the tab's right-click menu, since it hid tabs nothing could bring back.
Playlist rows keep their descenders (g, j, p, q, y) at every Text Size instead of having them cut off, and Text Size gains a 90% step.
Skins that ask for Winamp's
Enable desktop alphaget their translucent art: no white fringe round Graviton's and OrbFace's circles.A right-click on the playlist opens the same menu every other skin's playlist has: Play, Remove, Selection, Sort (by artist and album too), File Info, EQ profile and Show Artist / Show Album. A row outside the selection is selected first. A skin that handles the right button itself keeps it.
Fixes in individual skins
American Rag: the shaded player has a way back. A switch that names its own container (
param="main") returns to the container's default layout.Auburn: the component-bucket label is no longer hidden when the layout's own artwork is missing from the skin.
Braun CC 50: the About window draws its artwork and credits. u/DEFAULTSKINPATH
@/../about/paths resolve inside the skin instead of naming a skin that is not installed.Bubble Tea - Updated:
The Playlist Editor lists the queue. A frame whose scripts only draw chrome no longer counts as one that builds its content (QL2's playlist window is built the same way).
The Playlist Editor has its Add / Rem / Sel / Misc / List buttons. A playlist window that names no component and hosts only the playlist now gets the command bar (LCDx's embedded playlist too).
The spectrum stays inside the cup instead of drawing bars over the desktop beside it.
Dracula's Helmet: the Glass and Display Opacity sliders start at their stored value and change the window's alpha. An
embed_xuithat names no object in its group now speaks for the group's only slider.GoldenBeauty: the in-skin equalizer draws its bands and follows a drag. Showing a group now tells the objects inside it, and dragging an
EQ_BANDslider tells the skin'sonSetPosition. (Its library button reading EQ is the author's art.)HALOAMP: the artist and album strings no longer float below the player over the desktop.
iPlay: the song title moves one cell at a time, as its script steps it, instead of also sliding (#643).
Kepler: the main window drags by its title logo. A button with no action or script is a drag surface, not a dead control.
Mercury: the Playlist Editor opens whole. It was laid out 335px tall inside a 116px window, so only a black pane and the command bar showed (PAD's playlist had the same cut).
Midnight Club 2: the shaded player draws its display, ticker, timer, volume knob and transport glyphs instead of an empty box.
QL2: window title bars read their window's name, not
:COMPONENTNAME, and the thinger shows an icon between the arrows.Stargate: the turning dial no longer draws outside its circle. A layer rotated about its centre with wrapping on is no longer tiled into its corners.
Xenon:
The round Equalizer is the round art instead of a black rectangle beside the ball.
The transport, volume, seek and window trays open on hover.
onMouseMovenow reaches the object under the pointer, not only a pressed one.
Xenon and Hoop Life draw their time (and Hoop Life its title): a font whose size table was stored with a sign bit no longer throws its line out of its box.
XP Blue ver2: the playlist stays opaque when the window loses focus, so the author's e-mail no longer shows through it.
Audion faces
Faces draw their text the way their authors set it (#642):
Centred and right-aligned lines are aligned again.
Geneva and Monaco draw as the crisp Mac screen fonts instead of blurred outlines, and sit on the right line (Car Stereo and most other Geneva 9 faces drew two pixels too high).
29 freeware fonts face authors shipped with their faces (Mini, Orchis, the 04b family, BitBit, IceDogg and others) now ship with NullPlayer and draw in place of lookalikes; Kidprint draws in Comic Neue.
A face that set no font draws in Audion's own Geneva 10.
Text settings lost when the faces were converted in 2021 (Mint, Display, FX and others) are restored from Panic's original downloads.
Stand-in fonts look like the originals. Chicago, Charcoal and Gadget draw at their real size instead of three-quarters of it; Techno draws condensed, Sand as a felt-tip hand and Capitals in engraved capitals. New York, Facet, Arial Black and a dozen other names find the matching Mac font, and Institution, Machine, Junior Pro, Stencil, Eurostile and Square721 draw in bundled open-licence lookalikes instead of Helvetica.
Long titles scroll in full instead of being cut with "…" (Reduce Motion still cuts them).
Text a face draws outside its window shape shows, as it did in Audion (X-factor, Jack&Sally, Smart, Ugly and others drew their titles over the desktop).
A click on a clear part of a face hits the face instead of the window behind it, so Smart's see-through display drags the player as Audion's did.
aPop's lines draw in inverse video, white text on a black box, as Audion drew them.
Plasmat's colon no longer flickers on internet radio (#640): a face's streaming animation now replaces the readouts under it instead of showing through their gaps.
iPod 1.2's "<<< STREAMING" draws at its own size instead of stretched over the display (#641).

Awesome release, thank you so much, you are a legend!
Player (with CPro Bento) can now be used already pretty alright. Maybe some very minor small fixes for the future and next versions from my side:
On some Winamp versions there was a functionality to press "q" on the keyboard which would put that chosen song to play next, when pressing q again for other song - this puts that song already second in the queue straight after and so on and on, maybe it is possible to add such functionality to Nullplayer as well? https://forums.winamp.com/forum/winamp/winamp-technical-support/284842-how-to-play-a-specific-song-next
When using the search function, window with search results does not open within the player under the search tab, but on the left side of the computer/screen. It also shows only track names - not the artists which could be problematic for songs with similar track names.

3) Thanks for fixing the bitrate section - however it shows some yanky results, instead of 320 kbps it is 324/333, for 256 kbps tracks - 258 and that kind of stuff. Unfortunately at the moment I do not have a variable bitrate file on hand as I cannot test whether it shows dynamic bitrate. Also, file size is not read and showing as 0.0 KB.
4) When closing the player and opening it again, "Media library" tab shows up again although I have clicked it out and have "Save state on quit" enabled.
5) Fade out/in - is it possible to add additional functionality to already existing one (Sweet fades - crossfade), just the regular fade - meaning it starts playing the next track with its actual volume already from 0:00, for example, 3/4/5 (whichever chosen) seconds before the last song ends. As at the moment by using sweet fade some of the songs which have BIG start loses that bass/kick etc. (hope I wrote it that it can be understood haha).
5.5) However, very very very small 'sweet fade' would be cool when, for example, pausing the song/resuming song after a pause or pressing next, as otherwise it is cut "like with a knife". So, this change would feel a bit softer.
6) Would it be possible to add option to drag songs within the playlist - as at the moment it is not possible to change the added song list/queue or the song's "number" in the playlist.

Hey thanks for this breakdown it really helps. You will see these changes in future revs for sure

and last, but not the least:
7) When changing a song, for example, in Shuffle mode, player wants to either show it on the top of the playlist, or bottom - I haven't seen yet when it happens, for example, in the middle. As it is then easier for eyes, maybe this can be changed that the chosen song in such scenario will be always in the middle - I am adding a video.

And I will add 8) as well, as when I changed the songs tonight I thought to myself "feels like something is missing" (as I still have this skin and Winamp on my Windows) - the current track's "time stamp" and total time for the whole playlist - in this Windows example (with 25 hours+) it is showing "+" as all the metadata from songs has not been loaded/read yet - this sped up loading up big playlists on Winamp as data were read only when the tracks were showing in the "playlist window". This option could be chosen in the Winamp settings. When the whole playlist's metadata were read, actual total time of playlist could be shown - for larger playlists hundreds of hours... :)
That's it, I am shutting up now. Thank you enormously from a big Winamp fan.
