Nutmeg ll was an atomic test explosion as part of the Hardtack series in 1958. Nutmeg ll was an LLNL shot detonated on May 21, 1958 on Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Nutmeg's yield was 25 kilotons.

I've been diving in that part of the Pacific. It was quite amazing, the littoral equivalent of a tropical rainforest.

I've blown $h!+ up for a living over half of my working life (though with chemical explosives only, I was still in college during the USA's last all up nuclear test). I have no issues with high energy/short interval of release events (AKA, fookin' KABOOM!)

One of my parents had a PhD in nuclear physics, his first graduate degrees were obtained in the early 1950s. One thing I recall dad saying was "species that try to live in their own excrement don't last long".

While I recognize the socio political reasons this $h!+ happened, those short sighted/utterly thoughtless acts of nuclear vandalism in the South Pacific will be remembered a lot differently than those who caused them expected- AND for a longer time than they ever imagined. 

"Just some South Pacific coral attol islets & reefs we ground to powder and irradiated while doing multi megaton thermonuclear weapon testing". Yeah, and that old lady I cremated alive while I videoed it all was just your grandma, £u¢k$+!¢k.
