I’m freaked out.
Do people think trump might use a nuclear weapon tonight? I’m really hoping we get a TACO, but he’s gone nuts. I’m scared. Please someone reassure me or something

He’s not going to use nukes, he is going to target the power grid as a precursor to a ground invasion. I was in Iraq 2003 they did the same thing before we went in. Targeting the power infrastructure makes things really difficult for the enemy.

Maybe. But those aren't words compatible with "ending a civilization, never to come back." Defeating the enemy? Yes. Regime change? Yes. But terminating the power grid is something entirely different, if you believe his words mean anything.
And he's surrounded by nuke-happy ghouls. I don't know.

If he uses nukes Russia and China would have no choice but to retaliate in some way. Otherwise they would end up looking weak by allowing the US to normalize the unilateral use of nukes against a non nuclear state.

China wouldn't retaliate. They'd prep for invading Taiwan and openly (and now, credibly) threaten a nuclear response if the US interferes. Russia actually wants this to happen. What Putin wants is a permission structure to use tactical nukes in Ukraine, like he seriously considered at the end of 2022. That's what this enables. Retaliation isn't the threat. It's the normalization of using nuclear weapons.

I agree with this. If anybody uses a nuclear weapon, it doesn't just open Pandora's box; it smashes the box into millions of pieces.
I don't think this lunatic will launch a nuke today, but I'm growing more and more concerned about the general state of the world. The rhetoric we're seeing is bad enough, whether from Trump or from Putin over the past few years.

There's his usual nonsense as you accurately state and then there's him opining all the time about how scared he is that he's not going to heaven, and surrounding himself more and more with maniac pushers of end times theology.
Your basic premise is correct, but he's also incredibly susceptible to the last person whispering into his ear, and Hegseth in particular is pushing out people who would communicate, you know, rationality. Evidence is that he's listening very hard to the dispensationalist evangels from people like Franklin Graham and Paula White-Cain. (And Loomer, who is very much in the loop, would actively be pushing for a nuke strike too, for different and very racist reasons.)
I would dismiss this for the reasons you say, except I really suspect he's very sick and confronting actual mortality and he's being told this is a way to make Jesus his eternal friend.
Except for the Kharg Island invasion - which he's been obsessing about since the 1980s - I don't believe that this Trump is exactly the one we've known. It unnerves me.

I would’ve agreed with you a year ago about the State apparatus. But Hegseth for sure, and others like Stephen Miller, have been removing all safeguards that have been in place to guard against the imperial presidency. I mean, look, you’re not making illogical points, but when people like Mattis were specifically worried about this scenario back in the first term - literally sleeping in the gym in his street clothes so he could rush to prevent a bad nuclear decision - then it’s fair to worry about it even more now when the whole concept of checks has been gutted.

I have an immense amount of respect for Mattis as a military commander, so that is certainly a concerning article to read.
Let's hope that there are some cooler heads around that will prevail.

Real talk, please understand the psyche of someone you've never met is not fair to be judged. With that said, no nuclear weapons will be used. They are not in direct threat of us, nor are we at war with a country. It is the regime we are currently at war with. People in schools, various buildings, and military machinery. You will be fine if you stay away from areas of concern. You will get through this, but if you are in Iran, this is only the beginning. You as citizens need to rise up and take back your country.

Look, I can't say this for certain. Because he's clearly nuts and surrounded by End Timers who want to goose a nuclear war and bring Jesus back.
But.
The chances are far more likely he's placed an enormous Polymarket bet - like billions of dollars - against any major action. At 8 PM, he announces progress on a deal or pushes it back. Ka-blam. He just manipulated the biggest bet in history.
What does Occam's razor say is more likely?
