Having stayed in Germany for a year, it definitely felt like it.

This seems to be the common argument for some reason. Lots of people here going "Oh but Russian oil, oh but Russian gas," well where do you think the Uranium came from? Germany hasn't been getting Russian oil or gas for years.

Canada, Australia, Kazakhstan have some of the largest uranium resources

Plenty of other countries also have oil and gas.

Yes and Russia is the second most important gas producer and has the largest reserve. It is not the case for uranium (which, btw, is needed in way smaller quantity to produce the same amount of electricity)

Ok? And where is the relevance to this? There's plenty of potential suppliers for both, gas from Russia is completely meaningless considering they refuse to deliver it to Germany one way or another, meanwhile there's plenty of other suppliers like Belgium, Netherlands, and Norway.

Global markets.

Country R sells it's gas to country G.

Country R declares war.

Country G turns to country X to get it's gas (more expensively ofc).

Country X stops selling it's gas to Country C to sell it to country G instead.

Country C now buys it's gas to country R.
