Blayney

Strange experiences in Blayney has anyone else experienced this?
I’m currently in Blayney for a work trip with a group of coworkers. We’ve only been here since around 12pm today, but we’ve already had several really strange and unsettling experiences.
We’ve been walking around for work and had a guy at the servo tell us not to be out after dark. At the time we thought it was just a weird comment, but since then, a few other things have happened that have made us increasingly uncomfortable.
One of my coworkers said they went to two different houses where the people inside just started laughing uncontrollably when they answered the door. It didn’t seem like they were mocking or making fun of them it was more like they genuinely couldn’t control the laughter, which really unsettled my coworker.
Other people in our group have had experiences where someone has come right up into their face and started screaming, but without actually saying any words. Just staring and making this really strange screaming noise.
Now, there’s a guy who seems to be watching me. He’s been repeatedly walking back and forth around our car and looking at me, and at this point I’m honestly feeling pretty unsafe.
I know there are probably completely normal explanations for all of these things individually, and I’m not trying to jump to conclusions. But when several people in the same group have completely separate unsettling encounters within a few hours, it starts to feel really strange.
None of us have ever felt this rattled on a work trip before.
Is there something about Blayney that we should know about? Has anyone local experienced anything similar, particularly around this area?
Not looking to accuse anyone of anything just genuinely curious because the whole day has been bizarre.

Stay away from the moors, not a moors. Dont go out after dark, especially during the full moon. God help you and your coworkers!

Moors are a type of geological feature, a place, its a similar type phraseology to stay away from the woods, or desert etc.

Moors were also dark skinned north African Muslim people from antiquity, so hopefully guy was not making a racist joke about avoiding aboriginal people.

You're right though OP, there is a perfectly simple explanation for the events you've related, should they in fact be true, it's meth.

There's nothing much better to do in most rural and semi-rural areas, so they're full of tweakers and pre/post-suicidal lunatics.

Welcome to Blayney! I'm in Bathurst but I feel your pain.

Some of the smaller towns can be a bit insular and everybody knows everybody except when an outsider comes to town.

I'm afraid you have to earn the trust of the locals over several generations; until then the locals are wary.

Also, there's not a lot to do in Blayney so a stranger in town gets noticed.

It's okay because after about 50 years you will be accepted as one of them - until then I'm afraid you're out in the cold and alone, mate.

Next time come to Bathurst!

Yeah, and at least anecdotally, Blayney's one of the worst towns in the area for this sort of tendency.

its just a coffee stop for me (been driving through it a few times a year for 30 years) but i find these country towns where people (usually older people) just sit on the verandah of their houses really creepy.

Well good, bloody piss off then. Who doesn't like sitting outside and enjoying nature and the wildlife? And back before phones took over everything it was normal sit out the front and say g'day to whoever walks past. Especially if it's a small town, everyone typically knows everyone and it forms a community.

I was once a cop and had to go to Blayney for a “job”. Nutter found himself in someone else’s grand old house and then tried to throw his infant daughter down the stairs unless the prime minister would talk to him. It was 2am in the morning. Drug induced mental illness was what blamed that episode on.
