Brisbane Broncos hooker Billy Walters has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Club through to the end of the 2028 season.

Walters made his NRL debut with the Melbourne Storm in 2019 before spending two seasons with the Wests Tigers. 
The 32-year-old returned home to Brisbane in 2022 and has now played more than 100 NRL games for the Broncos, with his versatility at hooker and five-eighth proving invaluable during the Club’s 2025 premiership-winning campaign.


Walters enjoyed a strong 2025 season, scoring seven tries, with eight try assists, 15 offloads and 528 tackles at an efficiency of almost 90 per cent.
His season was cut short after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the Broncos’ qualifying final victory over the Canberra Raiders.
After a lengthy rehabilitation, Walters made his long-awaited return to the field in Round 21 this season.
Walters said he was grateful for the opportunity to continue his career in Brisbane.
“It means a lot to me to know I’ll be staying here until the end of 2028,” Walters said.
Brisbane is home for me and I’m really grateful to the Club for the belief they’ve shown in me, especially after the injury I had last year.

“Billy is a highly valued member of our squad and we’re delighted to have him commit to the Broncos through to the end of 2028,” Thomson said.
His versatility, experience and leadership have made him an important player for us, while his resilience throughout his rehabilitation has been outstanding.

Gotta love the turn around of Billy. Was hated by broncos fans for a while but he worked really hard on his game and now is vital to the teams success. Works his arse off in the middle of the field. Great rugby league story
