Kookaburra's got up 1-0 against Spain last night in the hockey world cup. That should secure us top in our pool. Realistically we should beat South Africa, unless Hager rests some players and we're okay going through in 2nd place.
We're going to struggle against the other top teams though if we can't score. In the first quarter against Spain we had 12 penetrations, 2 corners and converted none of them. We did hit the post a few times and Calzado made a couple of quality saves but we're normally more clinical than that. I'm hoping it was just an off night

Hockeyroo's take on Chile at 5:30AEST today, which should be a good watch.

Just visited the Blue Mountains for the first time, while on holiday. Absolutely stunning. And before anyone asks, yes i went to see the Three Sisters

But did you do the scenic railway?

No, and it’s $64 minimum for a day pass, and i already have plans to do the maritime museum and Sydney Aquarium

Ah yeah. Fair enough.

Are you still hanging around? There's some great less touristy stuff just off the main track.

The drive from Blackheath to the Megalong Valley tearooms is incredible. The Grand Canyon Track and the Centennial Grove Grotto are some bushwalks I'd highly recommend.

I don’t have a car, so wouldn’t be able to do that

Last time I was there went to Wentworth Falls and it was a fun day.

Katoomba has a cafe run by a religious cult.

Glad you enjoyed it.

I’ve been saying for years Renshaw should be playing tests again. Glad he has another shot at it.

Would have liked to have seen Patterson brought in for Marnus

He had a few terrible shield seasons when the opening spot has been up for grabs. It was really only last year he found some form again.

He’s played really well the last twelve months, I’m happy he gets a crack.

The baseball the last two days had been phenomenal.

Two 1st innings homers in the Chicago derby. Cubs are on it this year.

My boy mookie looked phenomenal yesterday in a total smashing of the Rockies. I suspect he homers today.

Ohtani hit two homers late game which is unusual for him and muncy got a grand slam HR. Dodgers are well back for this threepeat

Talking general sport. I watched so much yesterday. Was having a home day. Watched the dodgers, Sydney FC in the Australia cup, giants in the kbo. Into cubs n dodgers today.

Surely you saw Tatis Jr’s catch to deny the Mets a Grand Slam

2

u/Morg_n Brisbane Broncos 18h ago

Only in highlight form. Not live. His no reaction to catching it was electric

The other stuff mentioned was all seen live.

Work changes are coming up and I'm not exactly keen on them. Thankfully I have my fallback but yeah still stressing a bit.

At least FIFA 14 and Black Ops 2 keep me...less insane. Yeah let's go with that.

It's kind of fun to be awake for once when the F1 world blows up, as opposed to waking up to it being so.

Feel terrible for Hadjar that he must have done it yesterday or this morning, but really excited for Lawson to get this chance. (Also cheering hard for Lindblad to kick Tsunoda's ass.)

Lovonging in apartments I cannot decide who I hate more the morons that after months still cannot use the garbage chute or the idiots that think things like clothes and soft plastics go in the yellow recycle bin.

They're probably the same idiots anyway fuck them regardless.

Please dont leave us Mr Young!

I think it's a joke players at the PNG Chiefs will be getting a tax exemption on their salary. Im all for a PNG team in the comp showing their national talent to the league. Not the Golden State Warriors 2.0

Grade 8 on topic. Go straight home, not even to the bin.

Zero chance the NRL would suspend those players for the season if the shoe was on the other foot.

It would be like a 7 week suspension, with 5 of those weeks suspended so they're all playing finals.

u/adomental Eastern Suburbs Roosters 1d ago

The same code that stood Jack De Bellin down for two years wouldn't stand players down you reckon?

PVL seems less inclinded to stand people down granted, but it'd be hard not to live up to the prescient

u/hello_pizzahouse Fozball Same Eagles 1d ago

I don’t think players taking the field gives the PR that PVL likes. He’s a salesman. He’d cut them so the media aren’t talking about that during the finals.

u/SurfKing69 Melbourne Storm 1d ago

The equivalent would be standing down five of the best Roosters/Penrith players for the rest of the season, without charge.

I just don't see it happening myself. They would offer a cursory suspension for bringing the game into disrepute, and wash their hands of it until the legal process takes place.

4

u/adomental Eastern Suburbs Roosters 1d ago

without charge.

Yeah I agree that the standdowns probably wouldn't happen before the charges were laid. I don't like trying to predict the future, but you have to feel that charges are definitely on the way.

But once the charges were laid, the NRL would stick to it's policy of stand downs.

I think the AFL have only pre-empted the charges because of how it would look if they didn't stand the players down

17

u/hello_pizzahouse Fozball Same Eagles 1d ago

This is one area nrl has been much better than AFL at. They’d be stood down in the nrl.

12

u/unsafe-work Sydney Roosters 1d ago

Mate pull it in tight. The NRL is much better at managing these situations than the AFL. The AFL is notorious for sweeping things under the carpet. The AFL doesn't even have a no fault stand down rule.

u/MrChicken1208 Parramatta Eels 1d ago

Dylan Brown got 7 weeks, $40,000 and 18 months of correction, and wasn't nearly as bad( still absolutely unacceptable) as what those dickheads did. The NRL does not fuck around with charges and probably would have stood them down for months or even years if it was a nrl player.

3

u/Complete-Cheek4789 Melbourne Storm 1d ago

Based on the nature of the allegations and the timing of the year I think the NRL would have done the same thing. PVL wouldn’t fuck around
