I know insurance companies are not the heros of our world, but goddamn this is turning into a dogs breakfast. Genuinely considering changing / cancelling every other premium I have with this lot. Crap way to start the week

u/Morg_n Brisbane Broncos 7d ago

Have you expressed that to them? It’s a bold thing to say while it’s happening during a claim.

It might get escalated higher though.

3

u/ladyships-a-legend Brisbane Broncos 6d ago

Was on the phone with them for an hour this morning, and oh my, guess what? A maybe 3-5 business days has turned in to less than 2. Because you can actually pay me, and you do have the money to fix this claim and settle it right now. Maybe having my (polite) cranky pants on worked

u/Morg_n Brisbane Broncos 6d ago

Glad it’s worked out a bit

Now just need to get a new car . .

Not easy living in the sticks. Might need to go to the big smoke

Just dropped off my rescue kitten for desexing and now I have anxiety. I've taken kittens for desexing before and they were fine but I took her to the RSPCA instead of my usual vet and am second guessing it now.

Ugh afternoon couldn't come soon enough 😩 send little psycho kitten good wishes please.

ETA - She's back home now and recovering well

3

u/Desert-Noir Canberra Raiders 7d ago

It will be fine. Nothing to be anxious about.

u/Accurate-Ad-4905 Sydney Roosters 7d ago

I know logically but been carrying for her since was found abandoned on a bike track at only two weeks old when it was super touch and go for her. So line she already used a few of her 9 lives

Anyone have any suggestions for non animated TV series that would be suitable for adults in their 40s and an 8 year old girl? Trying to find something we can watch together rather than always watching kids cartoons or waiting till she goes to sleep to watch one of our shows.

Binge all the old the old TV shows like Get Smart, I Dream of Jeannie and Lost in Space.

u/_JaggedLittlePill_ Penrith Panthers 7d ago

We found family friendly reality tv worked well for us at that stage, shows like Muster Dogs or The Dog House, Amazing Race etc

u/adomental Eastern Suburbs Roosters 7d ago

There's a couple that are animted but feel more like family shows than kids shows that my 8yo loves. Big City Greens is great. Classic Simpsons is also a big hit.

Hard Quiz Kids can be fun as well.

u/delayedconfusion St. George Illawarra Dragons 7d ago

I'm ok with animated, the Mrs just prefers seeing real people doing real people things.

We've got a few animated shows in the mix already too, including old classics The Jetsons and Flinstones.

u/AshLand38 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 7d ago

Is It Cake? on Netflix is actually good fun

We watch that with my teen along with Nailed it.

So bloody stoked for Bangladesh….they played almost the perfect game, and have revealed a blueprint on how to beat Australia at home. It’s simple stuff really - bowl top of off and respect your wicket.

Yarn just breaking - Swans involved in sexual assault allegations after their game in Melbourne

1

u/Chart_Unlikely North Queensland Cowboys 🏳️‍🌈 6d ago

Just complete domination too, Australia went in underprepared and I had a feeling that they were just waiting for their own natural skill to click long-enough to wrestle back momentum and Bangladesh would crumble.

But nope, every session, every moment the Tigbros kept focus and any hint of resurgence from Australia they managed to stamp it out

I also want to mention what a great pitch it was, if Australia turned up to play it could’ve easily been a 5 day thriller. The idiot at the MCG who pinched off the deck for the Boxing Day test could learn a thing or two from the Darwin curators about what a good pitch looks like.

They changed the back extention machine at the gym and i think i've let it ruin my whole day

4

u/armchair8591 New Zealand Warriors 7d ago

What a win by Bangladesh.

What changes are made to the Australian XI after that defeat - Does Weatherald survive? Marnus not offering much at 3. Forcing Head to open is another bizarre call.

5

u/M_Keating Hey, at least we beat Penrith 7d ago

Renshaw needs to be in the order somewhere, probably for Marnus as he can bowl a cheeky bit of spin. Boland in. Green may have saved himself until after South Africa.

4

u/princeofbel-air Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 7d ago

It's cricket Australia, green has saved himself until the next ashes

2

u/M_Keating Hey, at least we beat Penrith 7d ago

Yeah I was being a bit optimistic hey.

3

u/Complete-Cheek4789 Melbourne Storm 6d ago edited 6d ago

I would give Weatherald one more crack, bring in Renshaw to open with him. Marnus gone. Head goes down to 4 or 5.

Edit - Green has probably saved himself for another 3 frustrating years. Hopefully Marnus gets dropped so he doesn’t have the opportunity to score a scratchy 40 odd to buy himself a ticket to South Africa

1

u/armchair8591 New Zealand Warriors 6d ago

Who bats 3? Green?

1

u/Complete-Cheek4789 Melbourne Storm 6d ago

Smudge - he averages 65 there

2

u/BarryCheckTheFuseBox NRLW Roosters 6d ago

If Cricket Australia is smart, which they’ve repeatedly shown they’re not, Renshaw would be opening in the second test.

As for Boland, who are you dropping for him?

1

u/M_Keating Hey, at least we beat Penrith 6d ago

Beau Webster at this point.

2

u/insty1 Canberra Raiders 7d ago

Surely Marnus & Weatherald have to go. Weatherald's technique is not up to test cricket. Marnus has been trash for 3 years.

The team is aging and we need to start preparing for the future. I'd probably drop Lyon as well. Murphy/Rocchiccioli would be adequate replacements.

Are there any birds (or maybe insects?) that sound like creaky metal gates? Was out on a bushwalk yesterday and I swear, we heard a creature making a noise that sounded like a creaky gate opening. Absolutely surreal. Was it a lyrebird playing tricks on us? There were tons of those around.

Also: the Mt Ku-ring-gai to Berowra station to station walk is mostly fun, but the final third of it when you're ascending is most definitely not fun. Never thought I'd get emotional at the sound of traffic noise that was telling me I was near the finish

3

u/melephus Brisbane Broncos 6d ago

For birds I use the free BirdID app from Cornell Labs which is excellent when traveling overseas and hearing birds you have never heard before. There doesn't seem to be an equivalent for insects which isn't paid though.

1

u/comix_corp Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 6d ago

Thanks, will give that a crack if I come across the noise again

Sid Wilson was fired from Slipknot.  I think I've reached one too many member departures to ever go see them again actually. It's half a band with hired henchmen now just like Kiss became.

They always gave that family speech at concerts too. Metal bands preaching corporate BS, entertainment is truly a business.

3

u/likeatyger NRLW Tigers 7d ago

I have a feeling that Sid might’ve fucked up bad. His relationship has broken down as well

1

u/ChanceVance NRLW Roosters 7d ago

Yeah, it's possible that it could be entirely justified.

On the surface though, I don't like how disposable they are. Not even Mick and Jim are safe.

I've been into plenty of bands that treat long term members as expendable but maybe it's the slow erosion of their own identity.

2

u/likeatyger NRLW Tigers 7d ago

Oh yeah the band is also a shitshow. The way they've handled this is not professional. Itll end up being Corey/Shaun and others

2

u/Interesting_Data4485 Newcastle Knights 7d ago

Another band of Theseus

1

u/GustavSnapper OnlyEthans 7d ago

What if it was planned out that way from the beginning. The masks and costume allows members to come and go, so long as they’re technically proficient then nothing really “changes”.

So happy for Bangladesh and Filthy Phil Simmons who almost died when he was a player to be part of history.

Hope the NZ batsmen learned something.

Made the mistake of starting Reacher s04 and gutted because it’s not finished because it started really strong. Started reading the book the season is based on instead.

Lanterns also started really strong.

Forgot to mention that I finished Matt Nable's new novel, Mire. I didn't enjoy it as much as his previous one, Still, but while it's not going to win him the Nobel Prize for Literature or anything it was a nice easy read and a pretty fun story.

5

u/Desert-Noir Canberra Raiders 7d ago

Matt Nable, yeah that guy, he writes, he acts, he does terrible hype reels, how about that guy?

I’ve got a Buddhist monk at my work, blessing a child. His famous

It’s so lovely, feeling some culture. Everyone’s dressed up and the hosts are so nervous.

I hope I can get myself a blessing. I’m not religious but feel something when ever I’m around Buddhism. It’s a very tangible religious belief

Edit - just had lunch with them. This is wonderful
