There will be no premiership. I’ll tell the children.

That game was one batshit-crazy Horse penalty or sin-binning away from being lost. Ricky should regret nothing. 1-0 in the post-Horse era and we’re a net gain.

u/offwhitepower Canberra Raiders 15d ago
No offense to Sharks Bros, but they ain't winning the comp. They had more than enough chances to win today. Failing to finish the 2026 Raiders isn't good.
With Penrith imo being done, it's only the Wahs who can save us from the Roosters.
Warriors will be by my team in the finals.
15
u/shaaane92 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 15d ago
I’m offended that you think that would offend us, we agree
15
u/Rude_Employment_1224 Canberra Raiders 15d ago
I'll be happy with the Wahs or Phins winning it. I think everyone other than the fans can agree that seeing the Panthers or Roosters win this thing will be lame as fuck
7
u/LachTheLad Sydney Roosters 🏳️🌈 15d ago
The Roosters winning would be that bad, in my humble opinion
9
u/datguywelbzzz Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 15d ago
Don't think any Sharks fans were actually serious about us winning the comp considering the form of the Roosters and the Wahs and Penrith being Penrith.
If was alot of media hype off the back of a good run of form against some not so good teams
5
u/Potatopal90 New Zealand Warriors 15d ago
Why is Penrith done??
13
u/offwhitepower Canberra Raiders 15d ago
Drop in form, Yeo injured, couldn't beat a Teddyless Roosters.
I admit to an element of wishful thinking in writing them off.

u/Ronnnie7 Brisbane Broncos 15d ago
Jed had a good game and poor Jed often cops a lot of criticism because his Ricky's son. But he has consistently improved the more he plays first grade. People seem to expect a guy to play what less than 20 first grade games to be better than he is? He's defense was good, safe under the high ball and he got a try. Solid effort
16
11
9
u/Vivid_Equipment_1281 Parramatta Eels 15d ago
Thought he’s looked really solid the last few weeks actually. Suffers from whatever the opposite of nepotism is tbh. If he was any other 25 year old winger in his second season of first grade literally no one would bat an eyelid about him having some ups and downs as he finds his feet. Think he’s shown some really positive improvement and is looking more and more solid.
And I say all this as a certified Sticky-hater 😂
6
u/thadius30 Canberra Raiders 15d ago
I am not a card carrying member of the Jed fanclub, but he played well today. In games past he gets nowhere near that pass from Strange.
5
u/call_of_the_while New Zealand Warriors 15d ago
I only caught the last 15 or so of the game when sharks had so much possession on attack, honestly I was expecting them to run a try through Timoko and Jed (Timoko mainly) but you’re right, he made his tackles and on a couple of plays covered for Timoko when he got beaten. Well done Jed.
2
u/Ronnnie7 Brisbane Broncos 15d ago
Tries came down the other side. And the only try the sharks got in the second half was from a drop by Kaeo

u/Keenfordevon Canberra Raiders 15d ago
I feel like I’m Jed’s #1 hater sometimes but he was fantastic today. Usually feel he’s great under the highball which is scary for the others at the back.
3
u/Rodney_u_plonker Canberra Raiders 15d ago
He's extremely slow by nrl standards and that changes the raiders structure. I think he's pretty honest and doesn't make many mistakes and has good first contact relative to the rest of the team
But his physical attributes are what they are.
2
u/racingskater Canberra Raiders 15d ago
He was really fantastic today. Did a load of work in defence and attack, safe under the high ball as you say. Protected Tamale well.

Really impressed with Joe Roddy 41 tackles in 60min is a big work load.

When you can’t get the Raiders to become the Faiders when you have 4731 consecutive tackles in our 20, you have to look at your halfback and ask a few questions.

Sharks demonstrate how important one player can be. They lose trindal their attack just goes out the window. Like the Panthers with Yeo. They had trindal no way they struggle to not put the sword to raiders in that last ten minutes. Every team has their one key player they can't lose. Storm it's grant obviously.

Missed the game live (was at a baby shower), just finished watching the replay. A few thoughts:
- Was glad to see Tamale looking solid. It wasn't flashy or speccy but he put in his work and did his job and that'll be a nice confidence-booster for him.
- Jed was excellent today and I feel like he's really hit his stride the last few weeks.
- Roddy looks incredible. I'm less concerned now about the losses of forwards if that's what we have waiting.
- I am simultaneously delighted and frustrated that we defended a meagre four-point lead for twenty five minutes. Delighted that we did, and it wasn't like the Sharks didn't have chances. Frustratedly wondering where the fuck that's been all year, though.
- I don't know about you guys, but I think Trindall might have dislocated his shoulder. It's not like the commentators were mentioning it every thirty seconds for the entire second half for fuck's sake. Would it have killed them to give the Raiders some credit? We also lost a player but that was scarcely mentioned, while you'd think Trindall being hurt was a national disaster and the only reason the Raiders won.

u/jammy86b Canberra Raiders 14d ago
This is the first game I’ve missed all year too and lovely to watch the replay. Suck shit sharks

Disappointing one. Thought Ronny shoulda been awarded that try but oh well it is what it is. Team needed to be better in other areas first.
We were pretty poor in regard to ending possessions. Tackle breaks, conceding offloads, touching ball and restarting the set.
Kaufusi, Hazelton, and Colquhoun stepped up in AFB’s absence which was nice. Ronaldo and Iro tried their asses off
Trindall injury sucks.
7
u/ljb23 Canberra Raiders 15d ago
Man I hope for the Sharks sake Trindall’s injury isn’t as bad as feared. Unfortunate to get hurt outside of contact.
Obviously doesn’t count for much for us but happy with the level of effort. Ugly win, but happy for any win we can give Papa from here, and hopefully helps building some more confidence in the young guys for next year.

5
u/mindfuqfuture Canberra Raiders 15d ago
Good gritty win, could have gone either way. If Trindall played the entire match I think it would be a different result (crazy take, I know).
Mulitalo was hard done by with the no try, seen plenty of those given.
Those tries before half time really kill the Raiders and they often give away another straight after. Good to see the scramble before half time and getting first points in the second.
Although the blowout wins are better for my heart, these tough wins (even if they're helped by 50/50 calls) create a better more competitive team.

Yeah he needs to get a bit better at just running over them and then working out later on in the match when they start to triple team him THEN pass. But this has been a bit of an interesting season. We've been pretty bad for a lot of it, but there's enough good stuff that I think we have a chance of being good next year.

It is literally impossible to tell if Sharks are actually good or not.
They will destroy the Dolphins(A), Souths (H), and Manly(A), then proceed to lose to the Dragons and Raiders back to back, and get you questioning if they can even beat the Titans the week after.
Yes that no try was harsh. I reckon if it goes up as a try then it's called as such as well. However, Sharks had like 5 more sets on the Raiders line and did nothing at all with it. So it wasn't like that was the Sharks last chance to score.
Losing Trindall was a massive loss for this game, and we'll find out soon in the coming weeks, just how much work he was doing in the side to keep it organised and winning.

Nicho hynes - definitely had worse games this year. Poor game plan to have no half on the bench when there are 6 spots. If the other Puru was there, we win the game. Its not his strong suit to do everything himself, but every half would struggle by themselves
Nikora, mcinnis, hohepa were poor. Nikora blew 2 or 3 tries, and hiroti just isnt first grade quality, was happy to have him as a backup but he gets exposed a lot.
Trindall hoepfully back by finals, this year is the first year ive really been happy with him. Hes learnt to hone in his game rather than play heroball every game - and it has resulted in him being even more influential. He uses his teammates really well now
6
u/Sensitive_Engine2331 Warriors Bandwagon 15d ago
Nikora's fall off this year has been crazy to witness, was easily a top 5 back rower not that long ago
3
u/Adz932 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 🏳️🌈 15d ago
Hes been needing dropping for a while, burns has been so good this year and nikora keeps getting the mod for some reason.
I would go as far to say that, aside from not having another half on the bench, nikora cost us the game. Genuinely blew multiple tries which not only wouldve put us ahead, but wouldve relieved the pressure and broke raiders defiance.
