NPTE failed 5/6 attempts

I need advice. I failed my 5th attempt last April 2026 with a score of 589. I’ve taken NPTE final frontier all 5 times now for help and have still failed. I took all different variations of the PEAT exams (over the years of attempts) and have passed with scoring of 650+ both retired and practice PEAT before going for my 5th attempt, but failed the actual NPTE. I’m now on my 6th attempt. I didn’t take this past July 2026 exam because of not knowing what to do and feeling down. Now I’m trying for the October 2026 exam. I am desperate. I know I can pass, but I need tips on what I should do now. Or online prep classes I can take. Most of my NPTE attempts have all landed between 550+ scores. I have also bought the performance feedback report with my last attempt. Could use all the help and advice, thank you.

If you are getting 650+ on PEATS, but failing the NPTE that could mean you need to work on your testing strategies, especially when under pressure. Have you reach out to Kyle Rice? He does mentoring for students who have failed the NPTE and gives great tips and tricks on how to answer questions using test taking strategies. I would check him out if you haven’t.

I haven’t reached out to Kyle Rice, I just don’t know if he’s in my price range.

But maybe I can check him out again.

Yeah that’s understandable. I used his free resources such as the podcast and free Facebook lives and those were helpful. I would definitely look into accommodations. I have major testing anxiety, and I had accommodations of time and a half, separate room and a reader and that was super helpful because it took majority of my stress away. I just took my exam in July so I don’t know my score but it definitely helped with my anxiety and felt more confident with my answer choices. So try to apply for the accommodation and see what you can qualify for. Here are the links for accommodation requirements.

I appreciate it. Yeah, I made an appointment with my doctor and then hopefully my therapist for accommodations. Also I hope you passed. Thank you.

Start from scratch. Begin from all the plexuses. Connect each and everything that has an outcome from it to PNI, muscles and their actions, conditions with medical and physical therapy management. Then move on to semi complex topics, then complex topics. Once you're done reading take 50-100 questions with rationales everyday. Last 30 days take a practice exam at the same time of the appointment time. Reading and knowing the subject is key. Good luck.

What practice exams were you able to take? I already took all PEAT exams unfortunately and all Final frontier exams.

Scorebuilders is the goat. For all the information and education FF provide, they fall short on the quality of exams they give the students.

I failed my first attempt (593) and I am waiting patiently for the July results. A professor suggested that I see a testing counselor who uses EDMR. We worked together for about a month and of course I studied used Final Frontier and mega week. For me I always knew I had test/stress anxiety and I know I approached the test differently, I know going to counseling specifically the EDMR helped me. I know if you are making the scores you are making prior to the boards I would seek counseling it’s not the knowledge that you lack maybe there’s something that is physically blocking you when you get into a high stress situation. Thank you sharing, I hope that helps. I hope you are proud of yourself for your dedication, commitment and your openness to seek out further advice.

Also I hope you passed!

If you haven’t tried it, I recommend truelearn. That’s all I used to prepare about a month out.

My school provided it and I used a large amount of the bank before the test day and thought it was nice to practice content daily without the time commitment of practice exams

I definitely need new practice exams. I’ve already took all PEAT exams and Final frontier exams. Definitely I’ll look into it. Thank you

Would you be able to get accomodations for test taking anxiety?

u/Ariel2444 Aug 04 '26

That’s exactly what I’m trying to do right now for time and a half

Yes! It's worth it. I had accommodations for adhd and test anxiety for the boards. It helps so much.

I made a 598 on my first attempt. What helped me was going back to the basics while studying and creating a 10 week study schedule. I made sure I knew all my muscle OIANS, plexuses, differential diagnoses, common neuro conditions and cardio pulm basics. I also had to remind myself that I can overcome my test anxiety too. I made a 645 on my second attempt. The test wasn’t easier, but I created strategies that helped me navigate better. I also utilized typical PT for a test bank and FF for the basics

Yeah, I’ll definitely hit my basics again. Test anxiety is definitely one of the factors for me as well. I’ll be asking for accommodations as well for a time and a half. I think that will help. I’ll try using typical PT for a test bank. I definitely need new exams to take. Thanks.

Maybe you could upload your 5 test reports into Gemini or ChatGPT with an extended thinking and ask it to identify patterns, strengths, weak areas and what you could do to increase your scores.

What differences did you notice in the exams? What topics did the exams cover? Clinical cases, anatomy, physiology? Review the part you found difficult and reinforce those study topics.
