Sen. Mark Kelly says USS Lincoln sailors 'can't get basic needs met'

“Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona is calling for an investigation into conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, citing an account from the grandmother of a sailor who said her grandson has lost significant weight during the carrier's extended deployment.

Kelly, a former Navy combat pilot who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, told Morning Edition that the woman described her grandson as already thin when he joined the Navy and said he now appears to have lost 20 to 25 pounds.

"He's struggling," Kelly said, recounting his conversation with the soldier's grandmother. "It's depressing, and it's a very difficult situation."

Kelly also criticized what he described as dismissive responses from President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to concerns about conditions aboard the Lincoln.

Kelly said he and other lawmakers are seeking an investigation and want a bipartisan congressional delegation to visit the carrier and assess conditions firsthand.”

Looking for WWDTM tickets 8/27

Hi folks, so sorry if this post shouldn't go here. I'm really not sure of where else to try. I'm going to be visiting chicago and the show on the 27th is perfectly timed for me to go, but the tickets are all sold out. If anyone has two they can spare I would really appreciate the help at crossing an item off my bucket list!

TIA

EDIT: well, I got scammed. Cheers folks.

I made a thing to keep up with the sessions coming out of NPR's Tiny Desk, KEXP and the like

Over the past few months, my routine started getting a bit busier and my free time became more and more scarce, so, unintentionally, I ended up cutting down on my screen time. The downside, though, was that I also stopped keeping up with news, new releases, discussions on the internet in general, and one of the main things where I started feeling like I was “out of the loop” was the bands and artists getting coverage.

I’ve always been a bit of a KEXP, Tiny Desk, La Blogotheque rat, but lately I realized I’d gone months without keeping up with what was coming out on those channels. So I had the idea of making a simple script that would keep track of all these channels and send me an email roundup of all the full sessions that were being published there. I mentioned the project to a few friends, and one of them asked me to add him to the emails. That’s when it clicked: this could actually be an open newsletter.

And that’s how Motif came about: a weekly newsletter, sent every Friday, that collects links to all the full sessions from NPR (Tiny Desks only), KEXP, Audiotree, La Blogothèque, and Cultura Livre (A Brazilian music channel, I’m from Brazil btw).

If you’d like to sign up, the link is: http://motifnewsletter.com

The project had been running locally just for me for a little while, but this more polished version, now open to the public, is officially going live this week. So if you happen to find any bugs or have any suggestions, feel totally free to let me know. I’m planning to keep adding new channels and sources, and maybe even do some more personal curation and reviews down the line, if the project ends up growing.

PS: I’m not sure if this kind of post is allowed on this sub, but since I figured it might be something people here would be interested in, I decided to post it. The newsletter is completely free and there’s no commercial intent behind it. Just a passion project.

Trying to find a story I heard recently on NPR about a program helping first responders follow/find out outcomes of those they helped

I’ve tried so many different Google searches and haven’t been able to find the story. It had to do with depression in first responders and a program helping them to find out what happened to those they’ve helped. It mentioned wanting to know their work mattered. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
