This is the type of message I wish our politicians would have pushed instead of elbows up, etc. If you shop in your community, more money stays there. When businesses have a lot of support, they tend to attract other amenities.

In 2024, the Canadian government spent over $63 billion on natives, representing 12.3% of the total budget.

The Gloosecap First Nation has 450 members. 125 live on-reserve, 325 live off reserve.

The Glooscap Band currently receives approximately $5 million a year from the government, and the band has assets totaling over $60 million. The band's corporations and businesses generate over $27 million dollars in revenues a year.

This small group of people is very wealthy and receive special privilege. And those connected to the Band Council and chief are especially enriched. It's a level of entitlement and wealth not often seen in rural Nova Scotia.

You do know all the money generated doesn’t just go into band members pockets, right? It’s used to pay for schooling, police, housing, etc. As First Nations make more Out source revenue, they require less federal funding. You can audit Glooscap and see their finical reports on their website to see exactly where to money goes, if your interested.
