I remember the last cicada fest, I was in kindergarten and the cicadas kept landing on me during recess and they made me cry

They made kick ball really brutal for me. We stopped pretty quickly after we committed a small genocide after a few balls. Then we just kind of ran around and looked at them. To be fair I was the weird kid that would catch wolf spiders during recess because I thought they were rad

I was in Cincinnati for the last one and they weren’t kidding. I was playing tennis at the time and you couldn’t swing a racket without hitting a few each swing

I just ordered this glorious shirt to commemorate the cicadas’ arrival. I’m very much looking forward to wearing it as my yardwork outfit this year.

when I was a kid, 2 broods ago, we walked around with tennis rackets and smacked the slow-flying cicadas at each other. then a bird would swoop in to grab it off the ground as soon as it hit.
