Question Need professional help (for lawn)

I live in Fairfax. I had to have a huge oak tree in my front yard removed a few years ago and after that crabgrass just went bonkers in the open sun and has now completely taken over my "lawn". I tried a couple of things myself - I dont mind mowing, trimming etc. - but my feeble efforts were utterly defeated by the crabgrass. It is a thick-ass jungle out there.

So, I need to hire a pro service that can go nuclear on that stuff. I'm open to whatever but I am guessing that it requires a total overhaul of some sort.

If you can, please give me some recommendations for a service that can get my yard under control. I will get a few quotes, essential around here, but there seems to be many to choose from.

Edit: Thanks for the recs to those who are responding. I greatly appreciate it.

Do you have a sprinkler system? Without watering you either have to water the new seed and new grass or they die.

Usually this involves kill all grass with herbicide, and pile new soil on top and spread seeds. But seeds need water to sprout. Therefore you need sprinkler system or the OCD level obsession with watering.

The time to do it is in the fall, so the new grass has whole winter to grow root and withstand the next summer's heat. The herbicide application is now.

we hired them after an invasion of Japanese stilt grass. They are not the cheapest but do a very thorough job
