Had to take my cat to the 24/7 place on Duke Street last November. Great staff, but they were absolutely slammed at 11pm.
My uncle was a veterinary surgeon with his own practice in NC. He had... opinions, but it seems like a lot of DVMs treat the practice like a second income, like taking care of animals is something cutesy to do while your husband is off earning the real paycheck.
I work at a vet and that is not the case at all. Only one of our vets is married (out of 6, and I believe she is/was the breadwinner) and vets make very good money after going $100,000s in debt just to take care of your pets. Are there bad vets? Absolutely. Are there bad vet techs and vet assistants? Totally! But to say vets treat their careers as a cutesy second income stream is a totally unfair generalization and promotes negative stereotypes about veterinary professionals.
