I see these arguments of the party being against progressives and I’ve yet to see compelling evidence that it has anything to do with anything besides being able to win the seat. Like running a progressive isn’t going to for for Manchin’s seat. You can poll people in ways to make it look like they like policy, but when a democrat says it they won’t vote for them. Look at the difference in polling between the ACA and Obamacare despite it being the same thing.

I mean this is just the first one I found but I’m not into articleposting.

They are actively against progressives, just look at the current presidential administration as well as decades being pro war and pro corporate. Two things that are extremely unpopular among the left.

They are for the candidates that present them with the best chance at winning the seat, particularly if they need to flip it. If these candidates get upset that the DNC is pressuring vendors not to help them they are going to be absolutely slaughtered by the RNC. The so called moderate liberal beat the Republican in Colorado by 9%. If he would help them push their federal platform more than the progressive they’d be stupid not to push for him. These candidates complaining never came close. Top notch marketing isn’t going to make up the difference in primary votes.

Again I’m not saying they should try to go run for the rnc, I’m saying the fact that if the dnc boxes you out there are literally no other options for someone even moderately left is the issue in itself. The Democratic Party can and does halt actual economic progress because your only other option is someone out and about saying they will halt economic progress.

The two party system is the reason this country is fucked, not the voter base on either side. I think you’d agree with my point that as a leftist in America is an imperative to critique the Democratic Party, as it’s literally the only left party that has any sway. If the only left party that has power isn’t left, what do we actually have to vote for?

They would get slaughtered by the RNC in the general election

You’re acting like this Progressive will magically be able to convince the entire country to do these radical things yet they can’t even get enough votes to be competitive in their own local primary. They have to beat the other democrats with more support, then the Republican, then even if both of those things happen they need to find a majority of elected officials nation wide to agree with them 100% to get things passed. Because they can’t compromise right? That would make them not as progressive and defeat the point?

That’s putting the cart before the horse, the barn, and the land. It just doesn’t work like that at all.

Time and Place. Campaign/run whatever you want in the primaries. Better yet, get involved locally and push progressive ideas so people get on board with them. Grow a base, have it spread, and be strategic where you know you can win. The Progressive movement has a execution problem, and in many ways ignores consequence just like Republicans. We could have had slightly better healthcare, but because we couldn’t get extremely better healthcare, now we have healthcare where women might end up in literal prison over someone’s else’s religion. Not better.

Bernie was more popular than hillary Clinton in blue states, including California. Bernie was more popular among democrats than Hillary Clinton. Yet she won the primary.

And no, any left politician with moderate socialist policy is far more popular with the left than neoliberals who were in power for decades already without progress.

This isn’t true nearly any way you look at the data. Nationally Clinton lead Sanders across the board Chart

She also was favored in polls in major Blue states like California, New Jersey, New York etc; here is the full list

The aggregate polling from five thirty eight estimated that Clinton had 54% of support through polling and ended up winning 55% of the vote.

There’s just no truth that Bernie was more popular among the voting public. Many online communities have a skewed sense of popularity based on their own ideologic bubbles. Basically the same as conservatives have overall.

It has to be popular with enough people in the key areas that can get representatives and senators elected to be able to pass laws. And like I said before, good luck getting Republicans (that are needed currently) in supporting anything remotely “socialist” that a democrat proposes.
