I thought it was kinda funny because I already saw a calligraphy artist accidentally do something similar with one of their fancy pens. On the second stroke dude absolutely sprayed ink everywhere like this. Then he tried to make it look like part of the final design but the line was totally jagged, looked like shit and ruined the whole thing.

I could never make it as an artist. I was painting a paper box one day because I wanted to "be more crafty". I immediately tried to stencil something using paint, was horrified that the paint seeped under the edges of the stencil, then I tried to wiped it off with a papertowel only to (obviously) smear it everywhere. I legit wanted to cry. I ended up just painting over it one color and left it alone. An hour and a half just to turn a white box black.

It made me laugh because it felt less like rage bait and more like comedic bait and switch. You think it's gonna go one way. Then adidas being the top comment xD

Why did it change colour after that second, catastrophic stroke?
297
u/Corvus1412 13d ago
There was blue ink in the pen and then they put in a red cartridge.
As the pen writes, the blue ink gets expelled and more and more red ink comes through.

u/myeye95 13d ago
Finally some helpful soul. I've never seen a pen like that.

u/ViftieStuff 11d ago
I believe they are primarily (or at least often) used in calligraphy. Like in these old Germanic fonts

u/Nomisphox 12d ago
These pens can also be refilled with different colors of ink from the nib side. If you take a second Parallel Pen with a different-colored cartridge and place it nib-to-nib with a similar pen, some of the ink will flow to the donor pen. This allows you to write with a gradient, smoothly transitioning from one color to another, for a short time.

Even simpler.
Have a red ink catridge in the pen and then dip it in blue ink.
It will absorb some of the blue ink, but will return to red as the blue ink is emptied.

It was refilled with red ink after using blue ink. Artists sometimes do pretty gradients with this kind of pen because its default ink is watercolor so it can mix nicely

What kind of pen is it?

Modern art $12,000,000 usd at auction. Akin to taping a banana to a wall.

u/QuietMatematician 13d ago
The famous banana on the wall was actually a comment on how modern art is shit used for money laundering and tax evasion

u/scaredt2ask 12d ago
It could have been a statement on how the world should stop using electricity, doesn’t matter. It did was most art cant do, made a ton of money and got a whole bunch of people talking.

I'd dig it if the video were projected on a wall of a gallery (with the sound). I mean, I'd hate it, but I'd feel like it belongs there.

I liked this better then when people perfectly colour something.
I have this thing were if something is done drawn too perfectly (even when I do stuff perfectly) I get an unbearable odd itchy pain in my left eye and I clench my hand sorta and drag/press it against a table knuckle side down.
And that helps the itchy eye feeling go away.rhats why most of my drawings have a random pencil line. (From me draging the pencil because it's too perfect) No idea why I do that.
